MOT and engine replacment?

Hey all, I have a 125 which had a new engine put in it, so this has obviously left the engine and frame numbers not matching.

How will this effect getting the bike MOT'd?

It has nothing to do with the MOT, the numbers could be different for a million reasons. Thumbs Up

Engine number isn't part of the MOT, if it really bothers you then remove it with a Dremel.

You can always post your log book off and change the engine number contained on it if you want. I did this when i swapped the engine on my car. My o/h also did this when her and her ex had a Honda CJ250T that popped and they swapped it with the motor from a stolen recovered bike.

Hence the 'if it really bothers you'.

Never had a problem with lack of engine number, it just goes along with mileage suppose, but i go on how the engine sounds and runs, not how many miles its done. Ive seen bikes do 100K and sound good, and ive seen bikes with 5k on the clock that sound like they're about to explode.

One of my bikes has engine number - "not known" on the V5. MOT stations are not bothered about this.

The engine number is more a manufacturing number.

funny enough neither have I.

I meant if there's no engine number then its probably not the original engine, hence the mileage on the clocks might not be true. Not that the mileage on the clocks matter as much as how the engine actually runs.

Hi

They are not going to care about the engine number. However they might (non MOT wise) care about a tampered with engine number, and likely many people would not touch such a bike with a barge pole if you were trying to sell it.
