Ever since I was a we nippa I've been more drawn to sportsbikes over the traditional or naked bikes, maybe because they are loud, colourful and all power rangerish?

The ZXR started this off and the 7R was the natural progression of style, power and desire for brand and I love it.

However, for what I need, use and want in reflection maybe something completely different and something that I would never have even thought about, a big, lazy and grunty muscle bike.

With hindsight being a wonderful thing and all that, would you buy your bike again if you knew then what you know now?

Would you buy the same style, brand or even cc?

Same here always loved Sportsbikes.

had great fun when i was younger on crossers but always dribbled as a fully faired rocket spitting flames from the exhaust ripped past.

now i have my own sports bike and although it may not be the best for the average commute it does make it a lot more interesting Smile

i now have 3 routes to work depending on mood, weather and how late i get up.

would i buy my bike again....? Bloody right i would

hmmm good question, always dreamed of sportsbikes as a kid going on the back of my dads etc, then i got my own and never looked back.

In answer to the question i think i would as i love my bike to pieces and think i made the right choice with it (gix 6), however in hindsight a white dream machine k7 gixxer 600 isnt the greatest commuter bike, only because riding in all weathers kills me seeing it dirty Wink oh i would have spent less money on it aswell..... Wink nah who am i kidding lol

No I wouldn't.

My fireblade is too much for the road, and too much for me. It isn't fun to ride. Its Exhilarating perhaps, Exciting maybe but fun? no.

In fact, I'm planning to sell it. I'm tempted to buy another Buell but I might just settle for an SV650 or something. Something quick enough for me but not too quick, something I will ride because I don't care about it.

Or I might just go out and buy another XB12R...

Thrilled with my Thundercat. Would buy it again over a lot of other 600 bikes and recommend it thoroughly

Hi

Depends on the bike. I have sold a bike before now and bought it back, but then I rarely sell bikes.

With the Bandit, yes I would buy one again. Same for the little RS125. Probably with the Bimota (although I might buy an SB8 or SB6 instead).

Other bikes probably not.

All the best

Keith

Clapping

It takes a brave person in my eyes to admit something is too much for them. I know that you don't have to ride like a man possessed all the time, but when can you do it safely in the first place on the roads?

A Buell may tick several of my boxes. Thumbs Up

In order...

NSR125 - yes but it being a new bike was a big mistake.
ZX6R - yes, that bike was fun even if was in desperate need of mechanical sympathy.
TL1000R - no chance, although that's probably cos it spent most of its time of the road having expensive repairs done only for me to not be able to ride it.
XR250 - yes, but I'd get a UK one as opposed to obscure import next time.
CRF450X - haven't owned it long enough to say, but so far so good. Mr. Green

I would and I wouldn't.

I like the way the TDM looks, the noise it makes and the loudness in general (bright yellow and silver.) But the thing is a fucking wreck, it looks really good, very tidy but under the skin its a heap of shite. (Like Britney Spears...)

That said, I like a challenge and do all my own maintenance anyway. If I didn't it would've cost hundreds of pounds extra and I've only had it for 6 weeks or so.

I wanted one of these for quite a while, so when one came up on my doorstep I thought "yeah, go on then." The guy I bought it off didn't lie as such, he just neglected to mention about a million problems the bike had (if he knew about them, its possible he didn't... Neutral )

Still, I like it. Not quite quick enough though Rolling Eyes I wasn't going to fall into the speed trap (as it where.) I was always going to get a 650, but it seems I have a need for speed after all. Very Happy

My wee 125 rawked! I'd buy that a hundred times over.

Thumbs Up

I would certainly buy my Fazer 600 again if hindsight was available. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought it a lot sooner than I did.

I would.
I'd get the ABS model though.

I don't like the 1300 much so it'd have to be one of the last 1100's

As a first bike I would recommend a ER5 and in my situation a year ago I would buy one again. Perfect first bike.

Now I would like something a bit newer/stronger. Hornet, ER6, BMW K75.

Stuck wit ER5 'til I save up enough and am not complaining. Much.

No, because I carry pillions everywhere and do a lot of in town riding. The ZXR400 really isn't ideal for what I need it for at all. I still think its a great little bike though Smile

I hardly ever go out just for the sake of fun anymore and thats what the ZXR is good for; blasting along country roads. But I just feel like I'm wasting petrol when I go out for a hoon - I can barely afford to get where I need to go let alone going out just for the sake of it.

If I had to pick again I'd have gone for something like an SV, Hornet or Bandit I think.

I've not heeded the advise of people like Wave2k, so went and bought myself another kawasaki - ironically, it is the same progression that the previous lady owner made on her bike - passing her test she got a ZXR250, 2 years later, moved onto a ZX6R F.

Seeing a ZXR400 makes me feel nostalgic, but that 250, with the 18.5k lower redline limit made me work for every single pony! It wasn't very forgiving to make progress on, but through the twisties, I was right on the tails of the 600/750 boys. I want THAT again, but unfortunately, japan decided to water down the concept of having a 250 cc sportsbike and came out with, in my opinion a n00b friendly sports-styled bike, not the same thing as having a hardcore pocket sportsbike that always got people talking.

Put it this way, I put in 12-14 quid worth of petrol every time I get to reserve.

With my right hand I usually see around 80 miles till I hit reserve Laughing

Also, when I was following 2 of my friends on rented 125's I did manage to get 105 till reserve, but that was too boring Laughing

Apart from petrol consumption and higher insurance, it's so so worth it. Have never looked back, will never ever sell it and want to buy another. Absolutely adore the little... well big Hornet. Does everything I want it to do. Apart from the good petrol consumption Mr. Green

For pretty much all my bikes; yes.
(List of bikes in my profile, for the record.)

The race R6 that had loads of problems, maybe not. But that’d go the same for any bike that was dodgy.
I regretted buying a CG125 as my first bike – should have got something faster, the NS was much better.
