I love to ride. Daytime afternoon, nighttime, weekdays or weekends ... it doesn't matter. My absolute favorite time to ride is late at night, from about 11:00 PM to 4:00 AM or so. The sun is down, so there is no glaring light to avoid. The traffic is almost non-existent, even here in "CommieFornia" and the cool summer air really does make the evening special!

When I was working for Ryder Truck Rental (now called "Budget") as a transfer driver, I was paid to ride my Goldwing all day, and then I'd go for a late night ride as well. I never need much of an excuse to go riding.

Do you prefer days or nights?

.

I've always loved riding at night. I'm not sure why.maybe because its peaceful and theres none of the hustle and bustle and everyday commuting traffic. its great.

I love night riding. I don't do enough of it. Riding home from work at 10 is the most I've had recently.

I do it quite a lot, no traffic etc so wheelies everywhere, ride like a cunt with no worries its ace, only thing is the one car that does tend to come the other way is a police car, and you can't fookin' tell untill after youve shot past it at silly speeds.

i dont like it so much, cos my headlight doesnt shine quite where i want it to. i flick between high and low beam, and accelerating and letting off. unless is a road i know i dont like it.if there are street lights it fine, but i tend to prefer a bit of traffic anyway, makes it more interesting than long stretches. accelerating past cars and swerving round them is half the fun for me

Night riding is good, if it isn't freezing, I mainly love the fact that there is generally non-existent traffic at night which makes for an ultimate hoon, there are quite a few druggies prowling around in there cars at night though, so it isn't always particularly safe (being hit by a pissed off druggies car because you overtook him can't be fun Laughing ).

Riding is more fun in the day when the weather is good and traffic is low in my opinion though. Thumbs Up

Riding by moonlight is made of win.

I love riding down an unlit motorway. There's something slightly spooky about a motorway being pitch black and totally empty.

Ever since i've had my xenons, riding in the night has become like a black, comforting blanket for me. It's certainly improved the visibility leaps and bounds and as far as i can recollect, it's not yet startled any oncoming cars, so that's a plus point. The only downside is that you assume you can still hit the speeds you do during the day through twisties - there are certain roads that i don't want to be caught out riding at night on, but an empty dual carraigeway is perfect for making progress.

I quite like riding at night, but it can get scary when they close off the big roads sometimes and you get diverted down a load of windy country lanes for ages not knowing where you are! Fun though!

Here in The Peoples Republic of Commiefornia, I am thinking of starting up a riding group that only rides at night. There are many groups here, family riding groups and clubs, bullet bike clubs, the Harley crowds ... but I don't know of any group that specifically gets together to ride at night. I think it might be an interesting twist! I'll keep you informed on any progress I make in this area.

I am afraid of midnight winding road, mountain road. It's too dark and can't see the corner well. I found two small lights ahead of me, then they jumped off the road, it was a deer Shocked Laughing .
When I was in tokyo, I liked midnight shutoko loops but I had to watch out for battling GT-Rs and porsches. They were crazy Shocked .

I confess, I frequently leave my engine running for hours on end Laughing
