Although there is something to be said about the sound of a bike at full chat I believe that the wind down, pop fart and burble of the overrun is equally as moist making.

The FZR sounded absolutely fantastic off the gas even at 30 due to some iffy exhaust gaskets with some serious pops and bangs. The monkey sounds like its fighting well above its weight with an aggressive exhaust note that seems to be the norm of a single cylinder engine.

What sounds better gas or overrun?

I don't know why but something inside me doesn't like the burbling/popping overrun side at all.

my sv sounded awesome hitting the limiter.
over runf from me, the burble and popping is a bit different, all i ever hear is whaaaaaaaaaaaaam, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam, its a nice change to hear it on the over run.
however running a stupidly loud can or no can, nothing will ever beat the sound of an unsilenced bike going through the gear box Drooling

Both sound darn awesome on a 250 single, If im gunning it, I like to drop the revs down low to about 3k then take it up to the redline as i love the sound as it builds up.

Overrun however sounds darn awesome, my exhaust has a small leak in it, which lets air in so it pops and bangs nicley when going down a hill after bouncing it off the limiter.

Cheers
John

I do love hearing on the rag through a tunnel. Every tunnel I come to I try to almost stop before i go through then pin it in through, orgasmic!

But I have to say I prefer my Blue Flame (minus baffles of course) when it pops and bangs on the overun. And 'cos my bike's carbed, backfires are at the flick of a switch Wink

One of the reasons why I'd like a carbed R6 is cause you can backfire. On my friend's sportcity 125 with a leovince exhaust it's already bloody loud with that method, and I'm really looking forward to hearing a big bike do it. Are 98 R1s carbed? That could be our solution to anything. Don't want to give us democracy? Then fear my powerfarts!!!

Giving it some beans and banging up the gears it just sounds awesome.

Not much sound really on a 2 stroke on the overrun.

Taking a sweet sweet kwak IL4 upto about 6/7k until its just pulling without hesistation, then turn around with your visor open on a straight road and pin the throttle in 1st/2nd gear (not consecutively, you might hit a tree or a child)

Sounds like a wank. And wanks are made of Win. Therefore Win = Wank and I smell of Fap.

I love the popping and burbling of overrun.

Although nothing beats the sound of someone with a nice can clutching up wheelie!

Pinning it in 1st->4th gear is awesome. BUT, now that i have a full titanium system (which has a higher heat capacity than stainless steel), i sounds bloody awesome, especially if you're doing 80-60 and your throttling off. It's like when you were a child and putting your ear to a bowl of rice crispies or coco pops - it's snap, crackle and pop - ooh the childhood nostalgia! Wink Laughing

I love the aggression of the overrun, but on mine it can make me feel like a prick.

Mine does it really easily though, so regularly bang it up a gear to shut it up.
