Just bought a Zeal and I have read that the CDI can be modified to give the bike more power. Not that I want to (yet) but wouldn't mind doing it soon as apparently it doesn't affect the low down power at all just shifts peak power up to 14000. Its the FZR250 engine if that helps anyone.

Also I've been looking for an exhaust as mine is a FZR 4 into 1 system but the standard Zeal system is a 4 into 2 so only one of the end cans is fitted. I wouldn't mind getting a nice can on to make it sound abit better. Got any ideas of what will fit? I don't mind making a bracket as long as it fits the link pipe OK.

Thanks in advance, Carl

Polish the ports do the cams/skim the head/jet and pipe it.
Is it worth it.
Just get it running well and like it or buy another bike.

I dont mean it bad but there is not a lot you will do that will not cost you
less to get a 400cc

Paddy.

I know I could get a 4/600 but dont want to restrict them as I'm still on my 33bhp. I only want a pipe to give it abit better sound and it I could cut a wire in the CDI that gives it 10hp more (claimed) and no low down is affected then why not? I'm happy with the bike at the moment but would like it abit louder mainly.

Measure the link-pipe diameter then find a can that fits it.

BTW rather than cutting wires that might have to be re-joined just unplug the connector from the ECU and release that pin from the connector. Insulate the wire then it can be replaced at anytime.

Thanks. I'm thinking of getting a can made because it would stick out away from the bike. The standard can is built with a bend so that it comes close to the bike. The only way a standard can would look good is if I stubbied it loads but then it will be stupidly loud and probably look silly. It's annoying because I think it needs a bigger hole in the end of the can because if it was standard there would be 2 can so twice the size of the hole that's there now if that makes sense. When I'm flat out at 10K+revs (redline is 15) and open the throttle an extra 10 mm so its at the stop the bike slows for a split second then takes off.

That doesn't sound like something that will be cured by fitting a can. More of a fuelling issue.

The main reason I want to change it is as the outlet hole should be (if it was standard) twice the size.

I think I've found an exhaust.

https://tyga-performance.com/site/product_info.php?products_id=1012

I think it will fit straight on and the I could weld the spring clips onto my original exhaust. It shouldn't stick out as its quite short. I think it will need setting up though as its nearly straight through and my bike revs up to 15000rpm so I don't want it running lean. If I put it on a dyno will they set it up there and then, or will they advise me on what setup to have.

One last question, can the exhaust be welded while on the bike or does it have to be taken off first?
