What are fellow members using to clean the messy fly/bug squash that covers the fairing and screen?

Got so p***ed of with it yesterday I removed screen to give it a good scrub with autoglym car shampoo and sponge....came up nice .....but I know the next ride it will be as bad.....have heard good reports on Autoglym bug remover but cant find it in the shops here. Embarassed

I use warm water and toilet paper...
What bugs are you trying to clean off that requires chemicals?

Edit:
Ok. I clean the worst splatter off with warm water and a cloth or something before i wash the bike properly Smile

All you should need is kitchen towel, get about 4-5 slices and put them under hot water. Press onto your visor for a couple of second and then wipe with it from one side to the other. The heat should get off most and water is the safest to use on your lid.

For stubborn marks that have been left, just apply more hot water and for longer. Thumbs Up

Wet kitchen paper for me when it comes to removing bugs, my headlight has hundreds of the sodding things on it at the moment as does my visor....... really should get round to getting them off it haha.

After you do it, if you apply polish or wax it'll be easier to get them off next time. But remember if you use warm water to do it, you'll need to reapply the wax.

As above, apply Mr Sheen or similar to the front of the bike, they will wipe off easily then.

About as much as you can fix with chewing gum/gaffa tape.

I was my bike only 3 or 4 times a year; sometimes even less so I always have an impressive collection of splattered bugs always.

Splattered bugs will shift if soften them first. I hose down my bike on an overcast day (to prevent it from drying too quickly), leave it for half an hour, re-hosing as needed. I then spray on some muck-off and leave for 15 min. I then use a piece of rag and running water, and it comes off easily. A few bugs dont rinse off straight away but light scrubbing with a rag will shift what are still stuck. Works for me every time.

I didn't know what to use either - tried Flash wipes and a microfibre cloth and that seemed to do the trick.

Another time used make-up remover wipes, but guessing that's one for the make-up users only Wink

Microfibres aren't the end to all cleaning chores, they'd be no need for valeting or detailing services if that was the case and, like me, they tend to use them as an additional item.

The best thing is Wax. If you wash the bike normal and don't flog yourself trying to get the flies off. Once you've rinsed just get a none abrasive cloth and some liquid based car wax (Nomal solid stuff works just as well but I find it less user friendly).

Hold colth over end of bottle and tip, then apply directly to fly attacked area. Rub into area, and watch the flies break loose.

Works great on visors too.

Like what he said - microfibers are great for wiping off polish/wax not really meant for washing.

For washing you want a wash mit which will minimise swirl marks unlike a sponge. When drying you can get specific cloths which are excellent and you won't even need to rinse it like a chamois leather.

I wash my Z with a bucket of hot water and car shampoo after every ride, no matter what time I get back at night.

It only takes about 5 mins and it keeps your bike clean, bug free and all the pipes etc mint.

The ER gets washed about once a week and for that I use car shampoo and to remove flies I use one of those kitchen green scowering things thats softend with use, but only gently.

Same as me really. I tryed it with my car 2 bucket method everytime and got a UDM etc and tbh i couldn't be bothered so now for my bike 1 bucket and a wash mitt does for washing and you won't really notice much difference unless you shine light on it.
