has anyone got any gear from states....just been bidding on an alpine stars jacket used..that went for £100 posted....i can get a new one from usa for £120ish posted and it sounds good to me...

anyone bought bike gear from there....off ebay or any other good online sites..

Just watch if its coming from a dealer. You then have a much higher chance of getting pulled for import duties. Which will put you up near to the UK price.

Remember yank sizes are diffrent to ours. They tend to be a mite bigger.

Yeahh like the above post anything over $40 is can be hit by import tax.

Saying that some sellers lie when the post stuff out saying its worth $30 or something. Not too many though, Americans are fairly honest.

I have an american brother in law and my mate won an auction for a BMX that would only post to the US . So he sent it to his house. My brother in law being a cock DHL'd next day delivery a BMX which cost over £100 in posting.

Be aware US sizes are different from UK ones.

Otherwise, as said be prepared for import tax + VAT + admin charges for the delivery company.

Depends on the delivery company they'll add the import duty. They also can get it wrong as I was once charged for goods with zero import tax. Allegedly they pass the duty & VAT onto HMRC . They also whack on an admin fee for effectively doing nothing.

Best option if you can is get it posted via the US Postal Service. Downside is it's then not guaranteed delivery (but I've never had one fail).

anymore info on the sizes.....just got rid of a 46 suit as it was too tight so was going to try a 48 jacket.....

i thought 48 uk was same as 48 us...? no?

maybe a 46.....feck it....maybe i should book a holiday there instead
