Well, my gf is coming upto her 16th, and so her stepdad has got her a fizzy Smile

It's a 1987 bike, and it has the original V5 document. Previous owners; 0. Only done 10,000 miles from new, last time it was MOT'd and on the road was 1996! Tiny bit of rust coming through onthe tank, but otherwise it's in great condition. He picked it up for £250.

Despite this, it still runs! Only problem is that the battery seems to be knackered (Hardly surprising really!) as it'll kick over and run, but will conk out if you don't keep revving it.

I know bugger all about these bikes, so if anyone could point me at some info about them, i'd much appreciate it. I think they are 6v electrics?

Will get some pics later hopefully. (Of the bike, not the gf) Laughing

Not had a good look at it tbh, but the stepdad is really into classic cars and bikes, so if he says it's a fizzie, i'd imagine it is Wink

Will go have a look at it now, and get some photos.

Got nothing better to do -_-

It doesn't have pedals.

I really know bugger all about bikes that are that old. Stepdad did say it was a "mk 2" or something, and that an older 1970's mk1 would of cost ALOT.

Still.. Gonna stick my shoes on and wander out to the garage ;]

There are versions of the fizzy that didn't have pedals.

Get some pictures up and I'll be able to tell you what it is Thumbs Up

£250 seems pretty good, want to sell it to me for £300 Wink

As far as I am aware they are 6V so absolutely shite electrics Laughing

I know what you mean, a lot of newer 6V bikes are pretty rubbish, but not all 6V systems are crap, esp older bikes. I think most bikes were 6V before electric starts. If I remember right the Fissies were ok, just make sure you use a good battery and don't leave the lights on etc.

12v is a lot better though.

My dad's RD is 12v and that's kickstart so there is at least 1 example of a 12v bike that didn't have electric start.

Regarding manuals, try your local library. If you can find one there rent it out and photocopy it Mr. Green

I return from the garage with photos! Comparing it to pics of FS1's and RD50's on google, it's definitely an FS1.

Maybe i exagerated how "good" the condition was, but then i didn't have a proper look yesterday Laughing

Still, not too bad for a bike that's older than me! And it runs.

Sorry guys but it aint a proper fizzy, its one of the later ones with-out pedals, all proper fizzy's had pedals.
Suzuki AP50's were also quite quick, but the best were the gerelli mopeds and the N.S.U quickly.
Ah my youth, so many years ago (old fart / fossil mode) Mr. Green

Indeed, it's not one of the highly valuable ones from the 1970's, but this is still very suitable for my gf Smile

She say's i can't have a go until she's ridden it first Sad

6V lights yes completly rubbish for anything. Brakes are rubbish. But such good fun to ride.
Great started bikes I had one at 16, now 17. still got mine just needs new piston rings.
There were a few variations.
earliest ones were SS50 which stood for sixteener special I think. But had to change because Honda has a similar bike named that. Then there was the DX which had a front disc brake. Then from something like 1979 they got rid of the pedals.
She will enjoy it, I loved mine.

That is indeed a FS1e,the ones up to 77 had pedals..i had a purple one HCR989N..pedals n all,Fresco exhaust and hit 60 with a tail wind ,downhill..scary as brakes were atrocious.Served me reliably rain n shine for 3 years while at college. The RD 50 took over in 1980s.The FS1e with a disc brake were FS1dx models..but my ancient mind may be playing tricks..... Shocked

Not too sure if it's similar but my RX-S has the oil tank behind the left hand side panel. My dad's RD has it underneath the seat so look in them 2 places Thumbs Up
