Securing my bike

Hey,
Im off down to Portsmouth to see a long lost friend for a few days next week.

The only problem is she lives in a fairly rough area and there is nowhere to leave my bike but the street

She does have a backgarden but its down a very narrow alley which i doubt the bike will go down.

If left on the street it will be locked to something on the pavement using my crappy oxford lock, and i will also have my Xena Disc lock alarm. Then i will cover the bike.

You guys recon it will be ok? Im paranoid about leaving my bike anywhere thats not too safe!

Mate i padlocked my bike up in a police station car park and people were like 'what are you doing' lol its a police station no body will nick it, anyways the point is you are going to think the worst , i do it all the time hate leaving the bike anywhere.

All you can do is lock it up, if someone wants the bike enough they will take it, but thats what you pay insurance for.

Hopefully yourl have no problems but it only take one nobhead to walk pas and take a liking to it

Id also be paranoid

I live in Sunderland and its full of scum and chavs tbh.. Theres a person not far from me who chains his bike to the lampost outside and covers it up. Its been there for a good few years now and nothing has happened yet...

But then again, anything could happen i supose... Just keep an eye on it, should be arite

I`m heading off on my england tour soon and i`ll face the same problems every night when i go to the hotels so i`m gonna leave mine heavily chained and covered in a multi story overnight (or if i can find one...a monitored car park).
Out of sight is out of mind.....there`s less chance of your bike going missing if you don`t tempt people to steal it.

If it`s a rough area there`s as much chance of it getting vandalised as there is it getting lifted........so if i were you i`d have a scout around for a safer spot.

Personally i'd never leave a bike outside, I think its actual a clause in my insurance that it has to be garaged between 12pm - 6am.

But what can you do?

Perhaps go on the train or take the car.
