Me thinks this is a divide and conquer strategy.

Aye heard this on the news this morning and if it holds true I'll be pretty happy.

I've never actually been against a congestion charge system but I found it hard to understand initial proposals to charge bikes. As someone who worked in Manchester city centre for around 5 years I know that by far the simplest way for me to get there is by Train. But I'm fortunate in the fact my local train station is only a short 5 minute walk. The bike comes a close second in terms of practicality but then wins out right as it is cheaper than the train and more reliable.

On the few occasions I've driven a car into Manchester I've always regretted it. It's a time consuming and expensive experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Anything that is going to improve the public transport links can't be that bad. And we're probably also going to see many more bikes on the road as in London.

Hi

Yep, divide and conquer.

Despite a taxi probably being about the least efficient moethod of transport they are exempting taxis as well:-

All the best
