But what does disciplined mean? fired , barred promotions docked pay? ,

Or a slap on the wrist and told don't do that again?.

Or shh be more discreet next time (probably the one)

Yet they wonder why respect for Police has dropped.

I'll wait for Hetzer as he will best put in to words what a lot of people think of the Police. Thumbs Up

That's a fair arguement, and I can only go by my experiences with the police which have seen me invovled with them on more than a few occasions. I have never committed any crime nor been charged with anything. I have no taken to not answering any police inquiries on the spot, and take down their names and numbers.

You'd be amazed how many quickly leave without saying or doing anything more if you ask them for their details. It's because they are blatantly abusing their powers.

I know someone in the police, and he knows of an officer, who broke someones back by going too fast and not paying attention at a junction.

It was dangerous driving and the officer lost his job, but didnt get charged with dangerous driving as one of us would be.

Another tip-of-the-iceberg expose into the behaviour of those who are entrusted with incredible power and willfully abuse it on a daily basis.

Useless scum.

I know four policemen and they're all decent people, and generally use their power appropriately. Sometime they will go out of their jurisdiction, but only if there tends to be someone who looks like a scally (chavs, rude bois, pikeys, druggies)

One has also passed her first level of driver proficiency tests, this only allows her to drive a police car, but not use her lights/siren or attend to any emergency's at any haste. I believe she has to pass at least one more to be allowed to drive at haste, and much more to get involved with high speed pursuits. They don't just let you in a police car with a normal drivers licence.

So it's ok so long as they're committing a hate crime then?

Police specials can use police cars (not traffic cars) without taking any further driving tests, but they cannot use lights, sirens or speed. I've seen a few traffic cars that have rear ended civillian cars, bet the driver they hit ended up with points on his licence for causing the accident no doubt.

what county is this? I know that in essex, specials have to take the same test as a regular PC to drive a police vehicle. They can use the lights but not to make progress.

Hi

There is no legal restriction on them driving police cars with / without extra training. It is just down to local force policy. When they want to save money they slacken the training policy, when the number of crashes get too high they tighten it up again.

All the best

Keith

i think the new health & safety / corporate manslaughter laws have made them think twice about letting anyone (who could have not been tested for 30 years) drive a police vehicle.

West Midlands and Nottinghamshire at least, at some point in your training or duties as a Special you might get to drive a panda car anyway with a full time officer and this could be all that is needed to let you drive one, but even that's not necessary, I am almost certain Specials at least cannot use lights or sirens for any reason whatsoever, the car is for transport only, but again this may be force specific.

I should have worded that better, I meant people who are acting suspicious.

I'm sure you have to do a driving proficiency test before being allowed in any police car. Maybe they are more lenient if it's unmarked.
