Hi, Another newbie im afraid.

Just passed my CBT and really want a NSR from the shop down the road but alot of people i speak to say its way to powerfull for a learner.

On the other hand ive seen alot of posts saying what a great first bike it is and a must.

Im so confused!!!

I hope the answer is that its totally ok for a learner and i should go out tomorrow and buy it.

Also ive had advice to get a mito but no real reasons, are there any good reasons?

Cheers Jan

The Mito is faster than the NSR and has 7 gears, so the NSR would be better for you especially considering your concerns.
As standard the NSR is less powerful than most modern 125's though you have the bonus of being able to de-restrict it to double it's power at a later date.
It was my first bike and it was brought from new. I passed my test shortly after and de-restricted it which made it much better for all the motorway journeys I had planned!

I soon got bored though and having to keep filling her up with oil was annoying after a while...and expensive!

Don't let me put you off though. It's a very enjoyable bike to ride and I did about 5 thousand miles on her before I upgraded.

Hi

The legal limit for a learner is a bike of 11kW. The NSR makes 9kW (which used to be the legal limit). For a sports 125 they have a fairly upright riding position and they are fairly slim. As a sports 125 for a learner they are fine.

All the best

Keith

NSR will be fine for a first bike. I bought my RS125 as my first bike and didn't find it too powerful.

By the way, it is going to cost me £1100 to insure a Honda NSR125RR with my CBT on third party fire and theft, I am also 17.

If you get a better quote, please let me know

Give me £30 and I'll get your quote down at least £200 or I won't charge you anything.

I meant I would get the quote down by £200 from your previous quote, NOT get the overall price down to £200.
