Probably the best definition of ATGNI Embarassed Evil or Very Mad

I'm pretty sure that i have accumulated 2500 quids worth of alpinestars gear in leathers alone over the years, but today, i have 3 of probably the most comfortable pieces of leather that i've had the pleasure of trying on and riding in.

Sadly, the two piece is going because it no longer fits me, but the SX-1 1 piece suit is probably the BEST piece of leather i've tried on. The leather feels really smooth and supple.

From left to right

Arrow Alpinestars SX-1 one piece suit
Arrow Alpinestars SMX jacket
Arrow Alpinestars Troy Lee Noriyuki Haga replica 2 piece suit

I bet your bottom dollar that you would be surprised that i got all that kit for the price of a mid range dainese set of leathers!

The SX1 cost me 290
The SMX jacket cost me 90
The Haga rep cost me 190

Needless to say they were all used, but in bloody good condition!

Some people may wish and wonder why I have all this kit? Well, it's because I CAN! I know it's a tad tartish and excessive. Is a one piece excessive for the road? Well after a ride out, i'd say yes, but i've found that it's certainly more comfortable than my two piece around the bike. You don't get that pressure around your waist and stomach (if you're a tubby bugger like me). I fully understand the downsides of 1 pieces but i was willing to take the risk - Wave evidentially demonstrated to me that you can tour and hoon in a one piece, so i've followed suit. I'll put up a video review of the suit as and when i can.

I DO have to say that the quality of alpinestars gear before 2004 is very very high. I can feel a difference between their high end stuff (my 2nd hand gear) and their newish mid-range stuff of today in terms of hide quality and grain so if you're in the market for alpinestars, it's wise to shop 2nd hand as you're guaranteed a good set IMO.

Anyway, let the whoring begin.

Doesn't that look cool

Oh, if i've offended people in my over-exuberant tarty whorishness, my suggestion is, try harder Wink Alpinestars and me, here 2 stay.

Man, I guess when I did my GCSE's and got a bootload of A*'s (5 admittedly), and got nothing from my parents, i'm getting quite a load of A*'s now Rolling Eyes Wink So it's all coming good.

It's a sad day now too. My 2 piece leathers have been cleaned and fragranted (with dolce and gabana aftershave - since it's good for removing scuffing on plastic) and is in a box, ready to be shipped to the next successful person to put in an offer higher than 175 on my ebay!

Yeah, i had gericke leathers for a year and a half before i sold them to instigator and i believe the jacket to tizer (funnily enough, both of them know each other!) and i didn't know that at the time!

I've tried Dainese too, but i didn't quite like their designs.. They were pretty garish, couldn't find ones that were pretty plain. That said, i went and got myself bright red leathers!

I guess my love for alpinestars started in year 8 when my mate had his beanie, i knew exactly what it was (watching haga in superbikes/GP) and kinda went on from there. It's obsessive, but I like my gear.

It's kinda like that placebo effect, you feel that you're a better rider and you feel safe because you're wearing the leathers of your brand Rolling Eyes.

It could have been any other brand really. I guess the grey jacket started it all 3 years ago - i had very good waterproof A* boots, then won that jacket on ebay on impulse after failing to win an arlen ness jacket... so had it not been that fateful day, i might be wearing arlen ness instead. Also, as I was putting in my bid, i was speaking to Jordan (Pug205er) about dainese leathers (rossi rep), who then reaffirmed me that I WAS A GIBERNAU FAN so it would be silly having rossi rep. Needless to say, I guess my mates would forever associate me with alpinestars from now on. You've got to agree that the shoulder vents set the leathers off.. makes you look mechanised.

And there's no way I have room for them matey, or the cash really. Which is good cos I aint 100% on the color scheme but I still wouldn't help being able to buy them if I could Embarassed Mr. Green

Black or silver would be nice, but then again, the other option was green (weren't any in my size Crying or Very sad ) so i had to make do with red. I've always been the one to stand out of a crowd with my garish personality and highly eccentric/bizarre antics so it's no departure to what I am Wink .

I kinda feel that the older ones did have a more striking design but what the new one lacks in style, makes up for in perfect comfort.. quite easily the best off the peg suit i've tried..

Off to try a back protector for it tomorrow (and to buy leggings so it makes taking them off much easier.)
