Ok i'v got a limited budget of £1300 and there's four bikes i like but i just cannot decide what to go for! They are the 1999 srad 750, the 1999 srad 600, 1999 zx6r and the 1993 CBR 600f.

The zx6r looks most modern but i'm not that fond of the green colour, the CBR is probably the most reliable, the srad 750 is probably the quickest with the srad 600 getting more mpg but i think the seat heights are quite high on these and me being only 5'8 might be a problem. The insurance quotes have been pretty much the same for all of them even though the 750 has a higher insurence group.

I'd just like to know from people who owned these bikes what you thought of them, were they reliable, quick, good mpg, parts easy to come by ect ect. I'm tottaly stumped as to what bike to go for. Any advice appreciated cheers.

if you can find a 99 srad 750 (which will be FI so should be ok'ish on petrol) for £1300 take that over the others without a doubt.

I do like the looks of the ninja alot but the 750 FI is going to be quicker and more of a lazyier ride like me lol so think i'm going to go for that one if not the 99 then 98/97 whichever is in good condition ect. Cool

If you buy a gixxer 750 for a 'lazyer' ride, you're missing the whole point of the bike Smile

lol you know what i mean, i won't have to be changing and ragging ever gear as much on the 750.

I'v decided to go for either the gsxr 750 96-98 year or the zx6r 1999, i'd just like to know is £1400 about the right price to pay for a well looked after one? I was thinking maybe wait till around october when people will be selling them for the winter prices may go down?

I'v read loads of reviews about the srad and people have nothing but good things to say about it as for the ninja well the brakes arn't as good and the valves seem to need changing every 8 thou and at every service which is going to cost £400...

The only thing putting me off the srad is the seat height (me being only 5'7) i think it maight be to high? And the dated bulky ass looks i just can't get myself to like it! The ninja looks years ahead, but if i'm riding it and it feels good i prob won't care...? Neutral

This thread has made you lose an inch in height! Your height is perfect for sports bikes. Thumbs Up Sports bikes aren't tall bikes.

Go for the srad, the ninja is a bit of a comfy, roomy tourer by comparison! Wink ... which is why i chose it.

i had that model zx and never had a problem with it TBH.
Had it for 2 years and as said it's as comfy as hell.

Good seat height and ample power for what ever you need and quite smooth.
Haven't ridden any of the others and don't know your previous bikes.
750 is where it's at though for that little extra poke if that's what you're after.

Ride em all and check em over. Personally I'd go with the one in the best condition best serviced etc

I just sold my 750 srad, my only advice is make sure u feel happy on it, if u can get a ride on 1 it would help. I never felt totally happy on it, its quite tall and very bulky especially for a short arse like me, not that it was too big but it just didnt fit me, I owned it for a year and only did 300 miles on it so it speaks for itself. Out of all those bikes it has everything you could want on a bike, its got all the trick bits and in theory is the 1 to buy but doesn't mean alot if u dont like riding it (dont see the point of the 600 srad if its the same money?)
Also got a cbr race bike, certainly couldnt fault it, granted its far from standard but it is a cracking bike if a little old compared to the srads. People don't give them enough credit due to their age (myself included).
Would def have a look at the zx6r too, tho iv never ridden 1, in hindsight I would have it over the srad
