Hi

I don't have a haynes manual at the moment and desperately need to replace the CCT on my 00' cbr. Is there anyone out there that can give me a run down on what to remove? I've done CCT's before but not on Hondas and after lifting the tank, I looked on in absolute horror how Honda managed to cram such a lot into a tiny space with what looks like no practical thought. I.e. I can't even see the CCT, let alone the airbox to carb rubbers.

Also, what sort of bhp is typical for a 929? I believe they were quite down on power compared to similar age r1/zx-9rs...?

Cheers

What do you mean, fun job? I've always managed to change cct's with the engines intact, tell me, please that it is no different!

I reckon I could take it all apart okay if it weren't for the tank - it's not hinged and it looks like if I undo the tubes, petrol will piss out everywhere. My GSXR never had that problem, it had a little IV on the petrol tube as standard Sad The workshop manual just states "to lift and support the tank". It would help if the tank was hinged. Laughing

On the 954 I just took out the two front bolts and lift it up then put a stick in to hold the tank up.
And the screws in the faring.
Is it not like that.

Hmm...there is a bolt which keeps the back of the tank down, if you take that off and lift the front of the tank up, its unsteady as it's not fixed to anything. If you leave that bolt in, well, I imagine it'll only go up to a point and then you're bending the part of the tank that sticks out for the bolt to go through.

I like hinges. I had a look at that link and at least I know where it is now. I knew it was on the RHS of the engine, just didn't realise it was that far down. Ho hum. Jog for wednesday night me thinks. I'll need to get one of those adjustable ratchet bits and a 5mm hex bit too. I've done the CCT's on an sv650 before, this should be child's play...Praying

Will let you know. Thanks Paddy. Much appreciated.

That's the one I've got, thanks. Just lift up tank and use "suitable support" Laughing

I'll give it another bash then and be slightly more inventive this time perhaps!

Thanks

I'm changing my cct on the 600 at the weekend.

Regarding taking the tank off and detaching the fuel line, my Haynes manual has a really useful tip.

Get a small pair of needle nose locking pliers and put a couple of small deepdrive sockets over the ends. Tada! Hose clamp.

This is where i got the locking pliers; Machine Mart 3-Piece Set
