I know that most of you won't care, but not too long ago a train exploded in Madrid. As it goes about 15 minutes ago my household phone rang, it was my eldest sister informing us of what had happened and almost crying in panic. My middle sister Anita was meant to be on that train as it's the same train she gets on every morning. Luckily one of her coworkers dropped by her house early this morning and insisted on taking her to work. I'm in quite a shock and don't really know what to say other than that I'm extremely glad that Anita is okay.

Christ Susi that's scary! But very very lucky.

Thankful that she's okay.

I was thinking about what a friend told me a couple of years ago after hearing about it on the news this morning.

A friend of hers had been asked by her boyfriend if she faniced a fortnight in Spain. She, of course, said yes.

They duly packed, and after landing at the airport and checking ino the villa he had booked he turned to her and said, 'Right, I'll be gone for about 10 days, see you soon.'

She was a bit gobsmacked at first, but was even more taken aback when she learnt why he wasn't spending time with her. He was heading into the hills and helping train and work with members of ETA!! Shocked Rolling Eyes

Not really the romantic holiday she first thought.

Hope the family is all ok Susi.

Just had my Dad call home in panic to ask if my sister was okay. Seriously I am so relieved that she wasn't on the effing train this morning. I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to her. I love my sister to bits.

Glad she's OK. I will never understand what people hope to achieve by blowing up innocent people. People that are just going about their lives oblivious to the danger that they are in. Neutral

You would think that they have some sort of quality of life, but because they're country's are badly run, they don't care, they have nothing to lose, its a real shame. Rolling Eyes But no one is going to do a thing about it.

I heard this theory too, but it has been worked out and in reality it was 912 days since 911. (because of the leap year).

Commiserations to the familys of all those involved.

Regards

Tape claims al-Qaeda tied to Madrid bombings
Posted Mar 13, 2004 07:42 PM PST
FRAME-UP!

Folks, think about that white van, left at the scene, complete with detonators and Koran. Who left it there? The actual bombs were remote controlled with cel phones. So, what the facts indicate is that the bombers drove to the train station in a van filled with conspicuously damning materials, parked, planted the bombs, walked away, detonated the bombs, then left the area leaving that van filled with conspicuously damning materials where it would be found.

Frame-ups don't get any more obvious.

Cut and pasted from....

https://www.whatreallyhappened.com/

I'm open minded but very sceptical about the white van/koran/arabic detonators evidence. Very convenient and not at all like the work of a group that could co-ordinate the detonation of 10 out of 13 devices at a particular time. Voice anti-Israel concerns, though, and you're immediately branded anti-semitic regardless of the fact that there are Israeli Arabs, Christians, Jewish etc.

I would not dismiss out of hand that this could possibly be a CIA/MOSSAD effort to direct popular opinion against Arab nations but then again, maybe I'm just an old conspiracy theorist....

Whatever the reasons/perpetrators or outcome of the investigation the main thing is it was another abhorrent act of violence against innocents and my heart goes out to those who were affected. I appeal to the individuals concerned, violence only breeds violence and nothing can be gained from it. Please, please, please resort to other means.

Don't be silly.
Al Q'aeda want you to know it was them, thats the whole point of terrorism. Spain is already well enough against terrorism with ETA and all that. They don't need any kind of 'plot' to turn them against it.

Frankly I think its actually quite bad taste to suggest that when a relative of a member of this forum was almost killed. Confused

Consiracy theories are for people who want to believe that life is more exciting than it is.

To some degree I agree with Irdawood. You never know what is up the sleeves of the 'superpowers' of this planet. I also agree that Al-qaeda want people to know it was them. The thing is though, how do you know when the Allies' intelligence is not faked like it was during the last Iraqi conflict?

I like conspiracy theories. If no-one thinks this way then the governments will be free to get away with murder. No wait, they already do that anyway.

Educate us then.

And Neutral @ 3 minutes silence. I'm not trying to offend anyone here (and I sincerly apologise if I do) but I really do think that another 3 minutes silence for the victims is over the top. The families of those who died and those who have been injured have my sympathies, but is the world coming to a standstill for yet more time helping? At all? Surely thats just giving the bombers more attention, which is just what they want.

And to put it into context, wasn't there only 2 minutes for the 3000+ that were killed in the WTC? And how long do we have for all those who died in WW1/2 - both combatants and civilians (thats over 50 million from WW2 alone).

I actually said that when I heard it was 3 minutes today opposed to the 2 we give for our dead who fought for us!? Confused

As for educating you guys, I've told you a few stories in the pub etc and thats as much as I'm telling as I like the free life (though looking at that woman form the piggin government who directly broke the official secrets act, I would probably be let off. Fecking lefty, tree hugging government).
