So did my first trackday at Rockingham on the 28th Thumbs Up

Been wanting to do a trackday ever since Ive had my bike, but never felt fast enough or had the money/time/weather etc.

But fuck all that now, me dids the Rock, and me likey! Totally addicted to track now, feel the urge to go again and again.

Booked with Hottrax, and Kudos to them, professional and brilliant day, well set up and well run. Really friendly folks Thumbs Up Karma

They were great about A2 licence (ie, they didnt even look, they just looked at the front) and my brother (Matty21) rode his KR1 for the first time ever on a Race Licence(and an actual real sized, powerful bike for the first time ever too) and he is 16...did fucking well did the lad. Might post some of his pics laters, I also have some onboard footage of my bro from me following him, and me fucking up a big corner, but then deciding to catch and over take everyone I could Laughing

I was dicing with the top four out of about 30 Novice riders throughout the day, a Beamer 1200 which I just COULDNT match for pace, but sorta kept with in corners, and a few newer/track bikes.

In the first two sessions, I was a bit dismayed. My bike started to skip out on the corners when I was laying the power down. This however, Im gonna put down to being a fuckin' noob and not getting myself off the bike far enough, and putting too much power on too early. As I learnt the track and kinda learnt even more about my bike, I started to speed up, no scary moments, just got faster throughout the day.

Compared to what I thought I was going to be like, Im pretty pleased with how fast I was, given the state of my bike. Cant wait to go again!

Childish, but both knees down consistently is a reaaaly good feeling Mr. Green

And Garth, if you read this, M600 set up for the track on the video I'll be putting up, it was cool but the rider was dog slow! Thumbs Down

By laptime, I think I will go for a backmarker intermediates next time, but this time, my 9 year old ZX6R will have :-

a)Braided Hoses
b)The front wheel on the right way round (dunno if this could affect it much tbh...didnt feel like it? Neutral )
c)Some form of actual supersticky tyre (was on D208's)
d)Suspension i)Refreshed...its 9 years old! ii) Set up for me
e)Maybe by the next time have the bike Im riding NOT be my main and only transport Laughing

Of course, I dont make any excuses... Whistle

Fastest Lap was around 1.54.1, about ten seconds behind Big_Ham on his Track Hornet from two weeks before (and I had better weather! Scary Surprised ) Thumbs Up

Anyways, a few pics.

I'll post the few onboard vids later, if I can upload them without my connection going pop.

Anyways, big up to Rockingham and Hottrax, thoroughly enjoyed it!

And on very old tyres that bobbled too much tbh ha.

What did we clock the KR1 at down the straights?

Woop beat a cb500 race bike Smile

Btw the pics of me arent that good, the vid is well better because i was better on last 2 sessions.

Hehe, you know you love it though, if you dont look too closely, it almost looks like my bike is fast Laughing

And yeah, this one was naked and yellow.

Oooh, fairings....sound yum. Maybe they'll help the lickle engine a bit more on the straights Razz Unless the guy riding it was an utter pansy at Rock', cos he got done over bigstyle!

KR1 reached about 110 down the back straight, pretty decent Thumbs Up

beatnck2, is that the no limits track day(s) on 12/13th July?

I was hoping to pop along to try out some new photography techniques.

Does anyone know the protocol for going along to take photos at a trackday? Am I allowed to just rock up and snap away, or will I have to pay for entry or ....?

Nope, that won't be the bloke riding it, that'll be the 50bhp powering it.

It's all about the corners, and the brakes. Any idiot can go fast in a straight line Smile

They may object as if you're selling the pics it'll take business away from the on site photographer, you have to have MSA accredation too in order to get into the non-spectator areas of track, i.e. the bits near the marshall posts and where most of the proper photographers sit.

Anyone can take pics from the spectator areas though.

Cheers guys. If the weather is okay then I'll try to come along and take some pics. Of course I wouldn't plan on selling them, but giving them away....

I'll let Matty answer that one Shaane. It smoked a lot at first though, and following with a video got me covered in oil deposits, especially considering on our first session, me and matty were out first at the front of the pack, so everyone else was wiping oil off their helmets aswell Laughing

Heres the first vid, but Matty21 (riding the KR1, with LAWS on his leathers) is faster in the second video Im gonna upload later on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zrS7t3GsJU

Ps. Sound quality was awful, so I just banged a few tunes on the video instead.

EDIT: Almost forgot, keep an eye out for my rather large fuck up on Video Laughing

I try and make up for it though.

ABout time I uploaded the second video

Matty is much faster here I feel Thumbs Up

Apologise for the gay tune, but matty loves it. and it DOES fit the video when he starts to speed up (after I tell him to get his arse off Wink )

Hope you think its alreet Smile

And it aint massively exciting, but its not gonna be til we're both rather fast anyways.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zzd1upzR9U

Thumbs Up

EDIT: I get done by the beamer, but look at his back end when he brakes a tad hard at 6.53 Laughing
