"Why should i?.....dya think all bike riders are robbers you dumb bastard." Rolling Eyes
I`m sick of fuckin jobsworths in my local supermarkets and corner shops asking me to do this.
I`ve taken my helmet off hundreds of times so they can all see me...they know my face, they`ve got me on camera, they can recognise my helmet,i always wear the same gear, and my bike`s always parked right outside in clear view of the security cameras.......so wtf am i gonna do?..
If i was there to rob them would i be stood there with a pint of milk in my hand waiting in the queue??

I`ve just had WW3 with the stuck up day manager at my local spar coz he asked me yet again (must be the 30th time so far) to take my lid off.
I started off trying to be polite saying "why do i have to do this everytime i pop in here for a box of fags or some milk....it`s a hassle for me to keep unbuckling my lid when i`m only gonna be in and out in 2 minutes...gimme a break eh mate"
"company policy" he says......to which i reply "so why are you the only person left in this shop who asks me to do it.Everyone else knows me and knows i`m just a normal guy and nobody says a word...i just get served and go"..
"company policy" he says again like he`s an automated robot with only one set of answers programmed in.
I offer to show the guy my licence so he can see my name/address etc hoping he`ll chill out a bit and quit the crap.....but no...it makes no difference."If you want to shop here take your lid off everytime you come in....If you dont like it you can go somewhere else"

So..i give in again and lift the lid up off my head and stare him in the face and say "so...can you see me now" (sarcastic as fuck) and as he turns to walk away i pull the lid back down.
5 seconds later he`s back in my face again saying "what did i just tell you about the helmet....Take it off and keep it off or i`ll escort you off the premises and you wont be allowed back in"...FPMSL
Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I dont understand this stupid fuckin rule and it seems pointless to me.How many robbers do you know of that wait in a line of customers with a balaclava or helmet on and then demand cash once they reach the checkout Middle Finger
fuckin pricks....rant over.

I can see why they don't like it, but when you do such actions such as waiting in a queue it's really quite clear. Plus you have your visor up revealing part of your face.

I tend to take my lid off for corner shops like these as most of the time it's more agro than it's worth. One place I won't take it off is a petrol station. Driven off quite a few times from people who won't serve me with my lid on.

Stop being daft.

Keeping your lid in when filling up with petrol, no worries, that's an acceptable way of keeping your lid safe and making sure you get out of there fast.

Keeping your lid on in a shop is just rude.

Cheers

When they asked me after i'd done filling my bike up and i was in the que i showed them the cash in my hand but refused to take my helmet and gloves off, when i got to the power hungry faggot who thought he was big because he has a name tag he asked me to remove my helmet so i thought, right ok then. i absolutely took the piss doing it and there was quite a long que, after i'd removed my stuff, i very carefully placed it out of harms way, then handed over the money, on my way back plenty of people were pissed off, but not at me Laughing

if they ask you, do it but just over do it so much so that they can't be arsed to go through it all again, worked for me. Thumbs Up

How do you pay for you fuel?

Some pumps have a card machine on them.

Is it really a problem? OK sometimes people can't be arsed (if I'm in a rush it bugs me to) but it doesn't take long does it?

Some pubs won't serve you if you have a cap on if they have cctv. Same thing isn't it?

I agree with someone above, paying for fuel would be a twat if you have to try and hold your helmet ( Rolling Eyes ) and fill up at the same time.
But for all you know the shop keeper could have been robbed at some point in the past,so is naturally wary.Even if they are just jobsworth's,wheres the harm?
just as above do it slowy to piss them off a bit if it makes you feel better.
I usually do take my lid of going into a corner shop, but if i didn't and they asked me to then i would,no problem.
Petrol station,i never take my lid off.

Mostly pay at pump at tescos.

What Im getting at is that at a petrol station forecourt, the attendant will be expecting to serve somone with a helmet on.

Your average checkout/kiosk monkey in the main shop will not be, and its common courtesy to remove it.

I'm usually in, 'It's their shop, they can demand what the fuck they like' boat.

I've never, ever had any problems getting fuel, fags or anything for that matter with my helmet on.

Maybe it's because I say, 'hello mate, is it alright if I keep my helmet on?' as I walk through the door.

Funny when they refuse to turn on the pump and ask me to take of the lid in a petrol station, conversation normally goes like this if its winter and I walk up to the counter:

Twat: "Can you remove your helmet?"
Me: Silence
Twat "Oy! I said can you remove your helmet?"
Me: Silence whilst glaring at him hoping for more of a reaction.
Twat: " So you're going to be rude and completely ignore me, its company policy you know!...You must take off your helmet! or we won't serve you! Right! thats it FFS...we can't serve you and you're banned from using this forecourt! Your registration has been recorded and we have this on CCTV in here as well...We never turn on the pumps at this garage unless you take off your helmet!!!!"

(Very large queue behind me now, getting a bit irrate as this always seems to happen at busy times)
Twat: "We get your lot all the time in here, thinking they can do what they want and....." I think...OK, thats long enough now as a delay tactic....hand goes up, unbuckles helmet,Twat is smiling thinking he's got his own jobsworth way, helmet rises off head to reveal.....

balacava.....Silence, Twats face goes bright red....
Twat: "Take of the balacava!!"
Me: Silence. Twats now so angry I can see viens popping on his face, customers start shitting themselves and edge towards the door...
Twat "Right, I'm calling the police!! Thats it! Your preventing me from serving customers blah blah blah"
Me: Sign language.... F. U. C. K. O. F. F.
Twat: Nearly has heart attack....
Customers commence shouting abuse at the Twat: "You horrible miserable bastard!! the poor mans deaf!! Are you fuckin stupid! We are never coming here again and your going to get fuckin sacked when we write to your supervisors etc etc you bastard!!."

Try it, I'm not deaf, but I was taught a bit of sign language...especially the swearing.

Why didn't you have a quiet word in his shell-like, something along the lines of...

"If you don't get out of my fucking face, you pathetic wee been-nowhere, done-nothing prick, I'll wait for you to finish work, follow you home so I know where you live, and then give you something to really be concerned about, sometime around 4am in your fucking bed. Ok?"

That one's worked for me more times than I can remember.

rofl at the sign language thing

but to the op

at first i thought you were complaining about having to take off your helmet at petrol stations which i can understand is quite anoying but in a shop its normal to take off your helmet, fairly certain every store near here would get pissed off seing me walking around the shop with my helmet on.

think it would be less hassle to take off the helmet than have an arguement everytime.

I started off taking my lid off at the sweet shop. They got to know me and now I keep it on. It doesn't stop me having a bit of banter either. They know who I am.

Same at the petrol station I use most. If I am out and about and need to fill up then I will use the pay at pump if possible. If that is not available then I will attempt to fill up. If the pump activates with me still wearing my lid then I will keep it on but still remain courteous when I go to pay. If they don't activate the pump and signal for me to take the lid off, as has happened a few times, then I take it off.

I need these people more than they need me. I have never had a crossing of swords as yet,

Meh.

I use plenty of different petrol stations around London. I don't have the luxury of going to the same garage all the time. I really don't mind if I'm asked with a "please", especially if they've been recently held-up at gun point, what I don't like is the lack of manners especially when there are no signs to say "Please remove helmets" or a symbol of some sort. If I try to fill up (I'm always in a friggin rush too) and the pump isn't turned on I look over at the cashier window. The fuckers around here can be rude and just blank you...so WTF? First time at a garage unknown to you and stand there like a lemon with a forecourt full of cars, pump doesnt come on, no announcement, what, is the cashier busy and hasn't hit the button?, yes there's a large queue too. Is he just a bike hater? Is he an ignorant twat? Only way to find out is go in and see....and if he just grunts as if I'm the lowest form of scum in the earth then he'll be met with blank silence and his friggin day gets ruined. On the other hand if I get a "Excuse me, blah blah or "please" or something else which was bred into some of us in the form of manners as to communicate the exact nature of what the fucks happening then no probs whatsoever. Some of these garage cashiers look at you as if to say "fuck you, I'm on the minimum wage, I don't ride a bike and don't give a fuck, not only that I hate all of you and got here last week off a plane from somewhere warm in the East", with language skills about as good as their people skills problems occur.

By far the best garages have been Tescos and small independents in the middle of nowhere for some reason (only my experience) the main bastards have been Esso mostly. Have you ever had someone run towards you before even putting a foot inside the door and they're shouting about the fuckin lid? Wet, cold, fingers numb, arse like a stone statue, rain running down your neck and the first thing a corporate company who you are actually giving cash to in return for goods starts having a go and treats you like a twat??? Yeah, I have an attitude because I love being treated like a scumbag when paying for a service, especially when the bitch in front gets served even though her face looks like a letterbox. End Of. Its about time everyone stood up for themselves instead of taking it up the arse like good little citizens.

Laughing Wonder what would happen if I dressed up in letterbox outfit and was asked to take of the lid...Surely you wouldn't be allowed to see my face under religious grounds? I could declare myself a Jedi Knight which is actually a registered religion and get away with it me thinks....I'll try it next week. Off with lid, face covered in veil....problem solved. Might even grab a pair of those sunglasses too... Laughing
