How much am I looking at to do the following......

Have noticied that there is some slight oil leakage from my left fork which I feel is only going to get worse, so obviously the seal has gone there. Im aware that I should change the bushes as well as the seal, should I be replacing both seals or just the left one?

Also I think my rear brake pad is wearing thin, it seems to have lost some stopping power plus the other day it began to make a squeaking sound as I applied to which suggests that im going down to the metal - I could be wrong though as im not up on such things. Again, should I change both front and back brake pads at the same time??

So, all in all, how much you reckon it'll cost me on average to get that lot sorted??

Garages charge very different prices, when my seals went I was priced at £250-300 by one garage and £40 by another. Guess where I went

I would go for both seals to be changed at the same time and it's normally good practice to change the bushes as well (might as well do whilst it's in bits anyway)
Just have a good check to make sure there aren't any slight scratches in the fork stanchion(sp?) too. I had my seal done and it was leaking again within a week. Turned out I had a very light scratch but luckily my nice mechanic only charged a tenner to wet and dry the scratch out and redo the seal.

As for the back brake you could do it yourself in half an hour very easily and without breaking the bank. Wouldn't worry about doing the front as well at the same time as they may be nowhere near needing changing. You should be able to see if there's much meat left on them anyway.

doing it yourself it will be about £10 parts for the forks, and about another £10 for the pads.

£20.

if you dont do it yourself, call it £30 for the parts, £20 for the pads, and 2 hours labour at £40 per hour.
