Hi, you said you live near Hanworth so I was wondering what you think about trials riding in our area? I'm selling my bike and getting a trials bike for a bit of fun for a year or so.
The only places I know of are Box Hill, do you know of any other places at all?

(i dont want to do any of the serious stuff by the way, just a piss about really)

Cheers!

I think trials is quite hard to 'get into' as most people get into trials when they were young (though their parents etc). I've allways wanted to give it a go but there's not many places even offering introductory days like there is for motorcross etc.
Probably the best way to start is to get a copy of Trials & Motocross News (I *think* that's what it's called) and look for some local trials in your area, go along and get talking to some of the people there.
Do you realise trials bikes have a top speed of a bit under thirty and really aren't for road use? (I have seen a couple that are road registered, but it was probably just for riding to a different bit of land on a farm or something.

I have a small river just down my road and the land is perfect for amateur trials.
+ I've got a car so all I need is a trailer to get the thing to and from places!

Trials is going up/down stuff mostly:

Okay, fair enough... sounded like you were gonna swap your only form transport (I've only got two wheeled transport) for a trials bike!

Nah, Reading.

But expect me to suddenly become your best friend if you do get a trials bike Smile.

I would expect it would be a significant help if you can get some kind of 'tutor'. If you do go to some local trials you might be able to find some one that will give you reasonably priced tution/more experienced people that you can go riding with.

Only local places I could think of would be forty acres (disused wasteland with plenty of weird obstacles to tackle) and brooklands up past the m25, pretty sure there is a proper course laid out there but you might need to be a club member to use it.
