PostPosted: 18:45 - 10 Jul 2008    Post subject: Sigh, SRAD 600 on P reg, but 4 points... Reply with quote

I got 4 points when i pled guilty at court recently, and i so badly want a new bike, i could have a VFR400 in the rare colours, or a near new P reg Srad, looks very clean and i felt right at home one it, the bikes... both of them i can afford...
But you know what am gunna say next dont you... Insurance.
The claim against me was settled without me knowin, and then i went court for due care, the police and the "witness" had me by the balls in court.
What do you recond my chances are on insurance at 19? Diabetic, Aprentice mechanic, with maybe 2 yrs no claims and 4 points?
Thanks for any advice.

^^ True.

I looked at a quote on a SRAD and i had 800 Fire and Theft. But being diabetic i think your insurance will be higher mate. Sad

If you want i can do a mock up quote or something and try get a rough estimation?

I said i was 19 with 4 years no claims as a vehicle mechanic. It didn't ask me about any illness or anything and i put the vehicle value as 2000 also with 4-5k annual millage.

Hope it helped or something.

That will knock your insurance up a few £££, they weight people who work in the motor trade.

I went to court, the police lied the witnesses lied, i had no evidence as the policeman i had on my side was effectivly useless. Plead guilty and my solicitor got me the least possible fine and points.

Pretty sure he hit diesel and binned it, bouncing off a Beemer in the process on his FZR4.

And subways are the best thing's since sliced bread, they absolutely rock. Cool

Wait, if you have a claim against you, surely you have no NCB?

Running a quote for myself with one year's ncb (ie, next year with any luck), and the claim against me for £910's damage, TPFT on a SRAD = £658! Also I'm 17.

I can't see it being dramatically more than maybe £800? That said, maybe it's not the points so much as the offence *shrug*

Cheers

From experience with quotes, it's usually a lack of NCB that increases mine, my old man quoted once without NCB on his car insurance and it went through the roof in comparison.

saying that, at the mo i have 1 years NCB, TPFT on a SRAD for me is £500 exactly.
hopefully mine (if i get prosecuted) will be around that still with the 2 years NCB (luckily i didnt hit anyone or anything but the floor)

Perverting the course of justice, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and/or a fine.

I'll have 4 points please.

AND mattsprattuk I'd say it's unlikely you'll be prosecuted, it's not 'in the public interest'.

I hit a car, the police had plenty of evidence to do for driving without due care. But since I told my insurance company straight away it was all my fault they left it as an insurance matter.
