New (12yr old) first 'big' bike

went over to the other side of dundee yesterday with a mate to pick up my bike, '96 zzr600e, 20K miles full service history and the guy had bought it from a dealer a couple of years before and only done 3K miles. Was asking a grand but eventually got the bike, haynes, and replacement screen for £800. The bike seems in excellent condition, just bought some tyres for it and hoping to MOT it soon as,

There was a review in bike mag a while back, they reckon the zzr600 is a very underated touring bike

this is what im after when i can afford one, except i do believe your rear fairings arn't standard for that bike. they should match the front fairings i think.

yea, i recon its been dropped at some point, engine covers are slightly scuffed on one side, as is a mirror, but then the fairing etc are almost too good, may have been replaced, but if so it still looks good

whats that meter under your rev counter? does it count how many revs the bikes done?

It is a nice idea, but not sure how much it is really used. On the one we have one trip meter is showing the miles sice we got it.

thanks for clearing that up i had no idea what it was for. Havnt tried resetting any of them yet. Also the bit at the top is either a clock or lap timer, thats been put on and run out of batteries. But i cant get it off ... strange

Hi

You reset one trip by pushing the knob, the other by twisting the knob.

Suspect it is just a clock. Wouldn't surprise me if it has got wet and died, but getting behind the clocks on the ZZR is a pain. For future reference, start by taking the screen out.

The GPZ500 has one too. Simple uses hers to keep an eye on the mileage done on her front tyre.

Quite a cool idea I think.
