I was just wondering, having read all the post and rants about petrol stations making riders take their helmets off, if anyone had ever suggested to them that they have a hook (or something similar) by the pump for bikers to hang their helmet on when filling up.
I have to remove my helmet at all my local petrol stations and more often than not end up balancing my lid on the top of the petrol pump while holding the bike with one hand and the nozzle with the other.
Yes its a pain in the @r5e but its either that or no petrol.
Think ill find the email addy for their customer relations and suggest it!!
Maybe if enough folk do that instead of getting upset with counter staff the petrol companies might listen....(or maybe not but worth a try lol)

Not a chance in hell is my head slider going on a hook. It's floor, head or hands for me, and the petrol station floor is dirty.

I just wear it while filling, then remove to pay, unless it's raining but I dont have water down my back yet in which case I keep it on.

You can get these marvelous inventions now called 'Stands', that when extended actually hold your bike up for you. They're very handy - you should try one Razz

kawasaki er6 and its only got a side stand so i have to hold it vertical to put petrol in. Ive developed the habit of sort of leaning it against my hip and holding the brake with my right hand while filling with my left

If I want to fill bike when it is vertical, I sit on the bike, leaving 2 hands free, 1 could hold the helmet, the other the petrol nozzle, easy Rolling Eyes

I agree. If it's hanging on a hook, sooner or later it'll get knocked off - it's just the law of sod.

I tend to put my gloves on the floor first, with the helmet on top of them. They are both then tucked up right alongside my wheel, so it's very unlikely someone will trip over/kick them.

There's no chance I would leave my helmet on a hook.

As soon as the bright chav of the estate sees a hook with £400 quid on it while I'm in the shop paying for petrol, there'll be armies of scallies hiding round the corner ready to swipe it.

Bollocks to that, it's staying on my head.

And as for holding the bike up whilst filling up, why don't you just sit on it? Works for my 203Kg bike!

If I'm asked to remove my lid, I'll just find a clean/dry place on where to put it, then carry it into the shop with me. Never found it a problem.
