I remember a post by one of the Scottish blokes on the forum who managed to perfect a method of cooking not only a fray bentos tinned pudding but an entire fray bentos pie, does anybody still remember the technique?.

As part of my camping kit I'm bringing along a very small stainless steel wok with lid a wooden slat thing so it can be used as a steamer and, can opener and a few paper plates thats it and probably a roll of foil too.

Anybody have any cooking tips other that boil cans in water al la Stinkwheel for a coleman stove ? .

I am a trained chef and I am used to enourmous cooking ranges , grills and ovens to create culinary masterpieces , though the coleman is for if I have to camp wild though as a backup.

Any thoughts?

Fresh pasta is bloody great stuff for camping. I cook it in a pot of boiling water with a tub of sauce in the middle and the pasta round the outside.

When done, fish out the tub, strain the water, pour contents of tub back into pot. Really, really quick food.

You can cook pretty much anything you want on a coleman stove, you just need to work out how to do things using only one ring and only one pot.

Stews are good, you can part boil the veggies, set them aside, brown the meat and onions, deglaze then return your veggies and simmer for a bit. One pot.

i think rather than a fray bentos pie, it would be a steak and kidney pudding.

they come in a can shaped like a pudding bowl, you cook them in a pan full of boiling water
