Thinking of getting a small plate for my bike. Maybe a one line plate? Or just a small one.

Whats the penatly if you are stopped by the old bill?

Cheers,

M

EDIT: Also thinking, I guess I would get £60 fine and 3 points if I got a plate with the L Plate on the side if you know what I mean?

Depends if the L plate was the proper size etc, if it was then i don't see why you would.

Ah not too bad then. Is that the same for one line plates?

I suppose I am more likey to be pulled on a one liner rather than just a small one.

remember though, when they pull you over because of the number plate, they may also go round your bike with a fine toothed comb and try and do you for anything else they see.

My plate is smaller than legal, but not small enough to get attention.

Don't see why you'd want to risk it to be honest, but it's your choice.

The cops can not clearly read a small plate but they do give out a clear message....

You do get police bikes too you know.

And even if not...why risk it just to have a silly small numberplate?

Just my opinion like.

tbh mate it won't really serve a purpose so it's only for aesthetics, which won't really work either, having a big fat L under it.

If stopped then if the police are being picky they could argue that small plate makes the bike illegal for the road. So that means you can't ride it home. Also means that if not road legal your insurance wouldn't be valid. So you've effectively been riding without insurance, so another reason to take the bike off you.

Just some thoughts Thumbs Up

I remember someone here turned their plate upside down to be funny. Got caught and a bollocking from the police. haha still makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Get a plate that has legal lettering but just a slightly smaller boarder. SHOULD be fine then. Dont listen to all the oldies. If you want a small small plate, then get one. Just be prepaired to be pulled if you catch the wrong cop on the wrong day.

Yeah the no plate £30 is true as most of us when riding in the Dales on enduro bikes ,although road legal, leave the plate in rucksack to stop nimbys getting your number and reporting you got pulled once and i said it had just come off earlier ,gave me a chance to fasten it back on or a ticket,........2 cable ties appeared as if by magic Laughing

Great, give the 'nimbys' even more ammo to use against those of us who ride legal trails legally.

Put the bloody plate on, and if you get grief, inform the individual that you have confirmed the legality of the trail with the local authority, and they are welcome to take the details of your vehicles to confirm their legality also. If your not on a legal trail, then you deserve to have your bike seized.

Play the game, or pack in and leave it to those who want to protect it for others.
