Helmet question (urgent..need a quick reply plz)

Do helmet sizes only affect the interior space or is everything about the entire helmet different?
Here`s my situation:

I`m bidding for a helmet on ebay coz i need the side pods off it to fix my girls lid.
My girls lid`s a small......and the one i`m bidding on`s a large or maybe medium.Will the side pods and screws still fit or do i need to get them off a lid the same size as the one shes got?

It will depend largely on the shell size I would've thought. Most manufacturers will offer their helmets in say, four different sizes, but there will be one size shell for the XS and S size, and a bigger shell size for the M and L sizes. (just an example) the difference is made up with the padding and inner shell so you might be bidding on the right lid.
If the helmet is still on sale there should be information about it on the manufacturers website about shell sizes and interchangeability of parts. Sorry for the vague response but hope its helped

Don't know about the make of yours but certainly when I wanted spare bits* for the Nolan they only needed the model type not the size.

Map.....this lid`s probably about 10-15 years old and not made anymore.I tried finding new replacement parts for it but there`s nothing.
It`s a shoei TXR....but its been replaced by the updated XR now and that doesn`t have pods on it anymore so i`ve gotta go 2nd hand..

so if my girls lid`s a 51cm and the ebay lid`s a 57-58cm...what do you think the chances are of them both having the same size outer pods?

My arai viper GT`s a 58 and visually the outside doesn`t look any bigger than the 51cm shoei......could that be a good sign?

If it isn't too much money buy it just to see. It's possible they have the same size pods on all shell sizes as it'd be cheaper than manufacturing two different sizes for the same lid. Unfortunately the only way you'll find out is buy trying them on. Hope they fit!

They should fit fine fella, otherwise you would have to buy different size visors too!

The only helmets I know that make different size shells are roof ones. The majority of others have the same size.

I understand your point totally marjay and i questioned my girl about the lid when she first started coming for rides with me and told me how old it was.

it was her sisters (she only used it for less than a year and it`s in mint condition still).
It was stored in its bag in a cool dry cupboard for the last 10-15 years and its never been dropped or abused....so i`m pretty sure it`ll be o.k.....What do you think?? (it`s fibreglass).

I want to get her a new one anyway but i can`t afford it right now....and i`m not exactly repairing it.
One of the pods flew off on the motorway the other day coz the screw was loose so that`s all i`m replacing.If it was anything more serious and expensive (like the internal pads etc) i wouldn`t bother.
