Dont know if a race topic is going to go down well but hey, do many of you bother trying have a play with big cars? if so how do you fare, stories etc? Reason being i was coming home earlier and an aston martin vantage was giving it some, probably the best ride ive had so far including a play with that - all on my private road replicated land by the way Very Happy

Discuss.

I used to a long time ago not so sure I would bother now as I'm a bit more conservative, too worried if something went wrong I'd come off worse. But in me younger days lol! Particularly on my old ZXR400 H2, cossies, Volvo T5R & a porsche all fell by the wayside lol! Thumbs Up

I just came back from playing with my gf's Smart ForTwo Laughing Was the first time I've properly played with anything so it was still fun, even though I was only on the CB Very Happy It's fun just overtaking everything, then doing a few laps of a roundabout for them to catch up then speeding off again!

Got my first case of high speed wobble at @100 leptons though Confused Was a bit offputting!

There is one of the Vauxhall Vectra models which looks like a rep-mobile but has a distinct turn of speed about it. They've had me stirring the gearbox on the VFR on a couple of occasions.

Got my arse kicked by a Porsche Carrera GT. I didn't feel as bad about this once I saw it wasn't just a standard Carrera (they look normal in your mirrors, most definately not from behind).

Had a funny one with a young lad in one of those "Hot" Citroen C2s. He came howling past me and a few mates. We set off to chase him. Turns out he was up to a respectable 120mph and obviously knew the road because he wasn't braking much. I was passing him at around 140 when my mate came absolutely HONKING past both of us on his old B-reg RD500. Easily doing 150mph with blue smoke spiraling out of all four exhausts. Now that was funny!

Mind you, another time we were passed by a guy in a Nissan Primera on the road to Skye. He was seriously ragging it and making some either very brave or very stupid overtakes. We hung back for a long straight before putting a pass on him, leaving plenty of room.

A bit further down the road, we were stopped for a fag break and he stopped too. Started rabbiting on about how much fun he was having and how he'd always wanted to try "Mixing it" with some bikes. The more he went on, the more we realised he was not at all right in the head. His car was also totally fucked, suspension sagging, bald tyres and (by his own admission) no brakes. There was a fair bit of steam coming out from under the bonnet.

He then started showing up photos of his van and his fishing boat (kept in his wallet). We beat a hasty retreat!

So, be warned. They might be up for a race but they might also have just escaped from the loony bin. I wouldn't have driven his car at all, let alone driven it at three figure speeds.

Had a traffic light start with an F430 coming home from Leeds at rush hour, I beat him off the line and was in front untill we both hit traffic, he'd of murdered me with any room to spare.

Caught up with a quick Audi estate aswell, but he wouldn't overtake a few cars on the lanes, so I left him behind.

I try to get people to race me, but no one will. Sad

Had several races with cars, there's always chavs in corsas and saxos to absolutely demolish wherever you go, but I've had a few genuinely fun blasts with decent cars and drivers, seat leon cupra R which I left behind but I've also been completely minced by an elise on the A5. It's all good fun and makes a change from the majority of the dawdling sight seeing road users you come into contact with most days on the road, and are little more than objects to overtake on your ride Smile

Oh yeah. Had a fairly good one with an AMG badged BMW M3 convertable on the A1 through the Scottish Borders a few weeks back.

Took a fair bit of winding on to eventually make it stick and it was getting to be hard work keeping him going backwards in the mirrors (not to mention getting a little outside my comfort zone on a road I don't know). I backed off in the end, having kept it up for long enough to prove the point. We exchanged a wave on the way past.

On hindsight, the fact the bike was fully loaded up with camping gear (panniers, duffel bag and tank bag) may have appeared like I was taking the piss a bit.

I was out on Friday and had a play with a E46 M3. Did something I'll get slated for and won't do again, which was go around the outside of him, (Dual carrigeway, between car and barrier, where all the shit lives), on a bend well over the ton!
Looking back it was a bit daft, but it was either that or look like I lost!

had a little play with a evo 6 on my r6, definitley wasnt stock this thing went like shit of a shovel. r6 was ahead up to about 90 - 100 (pinned it from about 30) but it kept getting closer and closer to me... hit about 160 and had to slame on the brakes.
the dump valve on it was something else Shocked coolest car ive ever seen.
then we were just playing about, doing wheelies, burnouts etc. i reckon i would have had him from a standing start, but i was only just quicker. Thats saying something, ive had a go with a porsche cayne turbo, a scooby and the usual pimped clio's etc... but nothing has ever kept up with me apart from this evo. Thumbs Up

its definately fun you get pushed to your limits with big cars i find, i was playing with an AM Vantage , on a cbr 600f for reference, on straights it was game on but soon as corners came, i was on roads i didnt know and i wasn't going to put myself into deep shit situation although it was very close to it.

you do realise that for every "i wasted a porche mmm or an AM the other"on here there is a guy on a car forum saying "i had this fool on a bike try to race me today,he held me up so much through the corners i just let him go so he would be out of my way"
also dont forget that as with powerful bikes with clueless riders there are some very quick cars out there with drivers who couldnt drive a soapy stick up a dogs arse.
so lets not call it racing lets have an aggreement that you had a bit of a play and as such we are all winners because we have a play rather than just dribble around in traffic.

Had a little fun with a BMW M5 and an Audi S6. Wasn't a bendy road, but all 3 of us were making a good pace of about 100mph along some a-roads. They eventually left me for dead, my bike not being able to top 105mph a the time Sad

Was another time when i was behind a Hyundai Coupe, an we were both stuck behind a car that was doing about 40 Sad When we got to an open stretch of road, we both gunne it past... my intention was to overtake both cars... don't like to be travelling behin people...

Well i was doing atleast 120mph when i passed him, and i didn't exactly blow him away! Wasn't trying my hardest to be fair. Was expecting to pass him easily with just a little squirt of power in 6th... Should of knocked it down to 4th, would of left him for dead then Razz

Most recent was actually yesterday I was on the way home and saw a new M3 coupe and Audi R8 racing away from every traffic light. Caught them up at one set then left them for dust... They stopped traffic light GP after that. Would of caught up and left me for dust if we was on motorway though.

First race was the day after i past my test, pulled up to a set of lights next to a Landrover Sport. He accelerated hard away and i thought, "right gonna have you" caught up and shot past him and then realised a corner was coming up very very fast and being a new rider i thought bugger... ran abit wide got onto a roundabout and watched them bugger off in another direction.

Favourite time was sat in traffic on the 2nd row behind an audi A4 and a barry'ed/chaved up fiesta was next to hit revving its engine. Soon as the light went green both wheel span and raced away. I just opened the throttle and dived between the two, chuckling away as i left them for both for dead.

[edit] oh i forgot, passed a mitsubishi galant once who had been holding me and stiffler up. Soon as stiffler tried to overtake he sped up but he stiffler managed to get past. That was the first time i reached the top end of the nc30...

Usually I'm quite conservative with my riding, I'll race most thing off the lights but wont break the speed limit to keep ahead.

Although a few days ago, I was showing a friend directions, she was in her car, only an old 1.4 micra, but she decided to pull out of the car park ahead of me, so I pinned the throttle, and gunned it past her about at about 60 on a 40 (made sure it was safe to do so). After this, she decided that she wanted to race me at every chance, safe to say she didn't stand a chance, even against my baby 250. Had to go through a few roundabouts and a few nice twisties which were a lot of fun.

Was the first time I'd ever raced anything and I have to agree if felt pretty good. I feel all dirty now Confused

Ferarri 575M paced me one night for about 10 miles along the M8, I was doing about 120-140 for most of the time, I was overtaking in the outside lane, he'd either fall in behind me or undertake in the inside lane... was smart, not racing just both enjoying quick machines... gave each other thumbs up when he pulled off at a slip road.

Had a little bit of traffic light GP with an Evo VI, it was fairly standard but im not exactly on a superbike Laughing anyway im not sure if i got away or not (i started infront) i was too busy concentrating on what was going on around me to be looking in my mirrors for the evo Laughing

Another time coming through some local lanes i overtook 2 cars, went round the inside of a car that was waiting to turn right, a bit of a brown trouser moment there as he didnt indicate till the last minute! Anyway about 400meters up the road im doing an indicated 90mph through a sweeping right bend and i look in my mirrors and see a black BMW 5series right up my arse, he must have followed me through the overtakes as he wasnt there before.
I know the lanes really well but im new to the bike, i considered going for it but i was already pretty much flat out and i couldnt see the driver, i was paranoid that it was a plain police car, i let off and he followed me pretty much all the way to work, he eventualy over took me and i saw it was just two normal guys who obviously wanted a play with the bike, i was a little bit sorry that i hadnt carried on hooning but better to be safe then sorry.

i say this as though it happened a while back but ive only had the TDR on the road for a week and a half Laughing

c_dug (soon to be roadkill if i carry on riding like that!)

most of these car drivers cant corner. several years ago i had a race with a scooby turbo in my rover 214. on the straights i watched him go but on the corners i was right up his arse again. i have seen a lot of drivers like that who dont know their cars limits or their own. i know bikes will be different and i am not commenting on riders. just a little heads up on fast car drivers Wink

Sorry, but this guy has hit the nail on the head. Personally, I've been beat on a motorway (from about 80- a limited 155mph) by an AMG SLK (R171 shape). Obviously until he hit the 155 I was unable to overtake, but after that I was just about to hold my own and overtook. It was close, but till 155 I really couldn't overtake. Them fvckers be fast boi! Laughing

Other than that I've been on a twistly road (think it's called A51, from Stoke to Manc via Holmes Chapel) and whilst I was obviously faster than the knob in the Mondeo diesel, I wasn't willing to risk my own (and other peoples) lives and overtake round blind corners. If someone in a cage is willing to overtake other cars round a blind bend and you follow, then you are just as retarded as the cager. Good luck to them, but on a bike it's curtains.

Some cars are genuinly fast, as you may of read before (and probably dsimissed as bullshit), but I drive the Cat n Fiddle every Tuesday morning, and there's usually a rider to have fun with, but as I drive a "fairly" powerful rear wheel drive car, I usually win. Fair enough, bikes usually take me on the early straights, but after 3/4 mile from Buxton to Macc, there ain't many straights, so a semi-powerful car will beat an extraordinarily powerful bike, unless someone like Vale is riding. I'm a much better car driver than I am a bike rider admittedly, but if I was racing myself in a BM 330 against myself on a ZX7R, me in the car would certainly win on that road

Basically, it just depends on the road. I've raced my own car on a DRZ400, and upto about 80mph the bike won, it's just physics really. If everyone riding an RS125 thinks they're gonna blow away any car, then you're very wrong. I regularly beat 170+ BHP bikes in a fairly shite 230hp car, it all depends on the road mostly, but also the size of the riders balls (or brain sometimes )
