had my daytona 675 se for a couple of months now and have noticed that the mirrors are really bad, even for a sports bike. Mostly all you see is your elbows, probably because the bike is so narrow but I have been trying to keep my eye out for a replacement that will allow me to see behind me and also into the blind spot. On the bypass It's too easy to not notice something going in the blind spot because of the elbow problem and my lifesaver has really saved me about half a dozen times already, and quite often I have been passed without knowing there is anything behind me. Cars all have the slight curves at the edge of them these days letting you have more view. Anyone seen this sort of thing available for bikes? Also needed for spotting the cops before you hammer it away from the lights and slip roads.

There's a Duke 999 that parks in Liverpool city centre that has little curved stick on mirrors that cover part but not all of the existing mirror, I'm almost certain Halford's sell them in the camping/touring section...

edit: Just had a quick peruse of the Halford's site and they do have them:

as matt said, you need to change the way you ride

its lean forward and tuck your elbows in on a sportsbike, then your mirrors will work
