I'm looking to have a weeks touring in the highlands, so any suggestions of bike friendly B&B's would be most welcome. Especially ones which don’t charge stupid amounts for single occupancy!

If you are going to the highlands stay on the west side . much much better roads . you must go up to Ullapool . fantastic roads up there . toured up there for many years . if not camping this is where i stay . biker friendly . great beer , cheap rooms . bikes can be taken up through the arch and chained up . but no need to just put it out the front and you can see it from your room window .

just go . you will love it Laughing https://www.4hotels.co.uk/uk/hotels/thearchinn.html

Are you trying to stay in the same place each night or move about? 'The Highlands' is quite a big place so you need to be a bit more specific as to your plans.

You suggest that I actually have plans!
Ideally same place to minimise kit carrying. 675 isn’t much of a carrying bike so not thinking camping.
Close to good roads would be good. Plans this far are go up after Knockhill BSB, ride a lot, come home. This isn’t a military operation!

Rolling Eyes Not asking for military specifics, just a vague gist of whether you're looking for a central b&b to stay in for several days or if you've decided to go from place to place.

https://www.route-u55.co.uk/ is where we stayed a couple of nights last time. As you're heading up from Knockhill and only down to Lincoln rather than Bracknell it wouldn't be too bad as a base for the whole thing.

I don't know if it's particularly bike-friendly, but I would certainly recommend this hotel: https://www.kyleskuhotel.co.uk/

There was one I'd recommend as you go into Fort Augustus at the bottom end of Loch Ness. Called Kettle House (do a google). From the south on the A82 before it drops into Fort Augustus near the turning for the golf club on the left. If you go into Fort Augustus and ask at the tourist info office I'm sure they'll help.

In fact just turning up at the tourist info office is a good move in any town. They keep a list of B&B and will book it for you for a small fee. That's taken off the B&B bill from what I remember. Will book you a place in another town/village as well. Just turn up before closing (obviously Rolling Eyes - I'd aim for about 5pm max.).

That way you've got a guaranteed place to stay and you can still be flexible over where you go and how to get there.

HTH Thumbs Up

I may/should be around John'o'groats from Tuesday 5th August or so on the KTM if you didn't know; week before then, it seems.
I'd probably be making my way down and possibly stopping in at Bulldog bash for that weekend.

Lo m8 am a biker from Ullapool if you are coming up for b&b and cheap accommodation look at either:

www.riverviewullapool.co.uk
www.ullapool-bedandbreakfast.co.uk

If you dont have much time the i would head north as quick as you can then work your way down the west coast.

Something along this line then go into Skye if you have the time. One thing to watch for on a sunday the petrol pumps are not open in some locations so its is better to plan it or you will get stuck somewhere.

Durness To Skye
