 |
|
To say I'm pissed off right now is an understatement. In December last year I set up a policy for my Hornet with Insure. It arrived, I had a quick scan of the documents and chucked it on the shelf to forget about.
A few months later I bought a car and wanted to use my bike NCB on my car policy, which some car insurers allow. Being the upstanding muppet that I am I rang up Insure to remove my bike NCB, which I was told would cost 80 quid. Whilst sorting this out I noticed my insurance certificate stated my Hornet was a 250! After a lot of time on the phone they conceded that no, I hadn't requested insurance for a 250 and it was their fuck up. As such they said they'd change the policy and absorb the cost. I received a new policy and certificate in the post (expiration: 4th Dec 08) and as far as I was concerned it was then case closed.
Fast forward to yesterday and I tried to renew my bike tax online. What do you know - I'm not on the insurance database. This morning I've rang every related phone number I can find and all I can get is "you're not on our system". Did I set the policy up online? I don't know it was last December for christ's sake. If I did set it up online then it wouldn't be on their database, but she can't look at the internet database and lo and behold, the monkeys running that aren't in today. They'll call me back tomorrow though, honest.
So presumably I've been riding around since February-ish with no insurance. Before that they'd have probably accused me of fraud if I needed to claim given I wasn't on a 250 too.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE. |

That's a point. Though I won't be surprised if all of the records are 'missing' and they just accuse me of cancelling a policy and keeping the certificate.
Makes me wonder why I've bothered spending several grand on insurance in the past few years. ____________________ Photos and that |

To follow this up they've finally admitted their mistake and set up a new policy which will run until this time next year for no extra cost. In other words, 7 months extra free insurance, which isn't bad.
That said if I had been caught riding around when the policy wasn't active, although they promise I would have been covered, you can bet there would have been a hell of a lot of hassle involved in making any problems like that go away. It's also taken me 5 or 6 phone calls to get to this point with them repeatedly promising a call back later in the day which never materialised.
Although they've eventually made it right I would still suggest people avoid them, as if they can't even set up a policy then who knows how bad they are if you actually need to make a claim. Hopefully I won't have to find out. ____________________ Photos and that |
