I'm thinking of writing my will soon.

It occurred to me, I move in a lot of online circles, as THX1138, but not many people know Mark Brown, tbh - i prefer the people I've met that know me from the net and call me "T" for short or "THX" - however......

One day, I hope a long time away, i will die.

However, the downside to being a biker is that, in some instances, death might sneak up too quick.

So should you die suddenly, do you want it posted on your B.Boards?

Cos, otherwise, it might take a while for people to find out, or if ever. They just might think
"oh, so and so don't post no more"

Dunno, I'm just thinkning about a suitably generic message, in my case up-beat and light hearted written by me to be published with details of death and arrangements by the exectutor

just wondered what others think, not about death, but the ethics of telling bulletin boards about "those final expenses, this free carriage clock colud be yours, and no salesman will call, shove it up june whitfiels arse, and then call z cars bollocls"

Not really bothered whether people know if I am dead or not, I have some people off here in my phone book but from nowhere else on the internet.

I am sure my missus would ring people out of my phone book and tell them all I'm dead.

That'll do.

I'm not sure anyone on here would notice if I stopped posting, no one I know in real life uses this forum as none of my mates are bikers. But then I may be wrong, but I wouldn't specifically write out something to say I'm dead.

If there's a funny story to it then yeah, it might aswell be posted although I doubt it would be me doing it. Wouldn't want my death to be in vain.

And in answer to the original question, no I don't want it posted up on forums when I die. I fully intend on making national news when I go. Twisted Evil

I would Dragonfly,

I get the impression you are a lovely person, and if you stopped posting I would definitely start asking questions.

I post rarely but read a lot. I like the sound of writing all your logons' and passwords into your will so they can post the sad news in the event of your death.

Whether anyone will give a shit is another matter entirely........

I have told a few close friends & family what I want to happen to me in the event of my sudden demise, whether anyone would think to post up on the forums I frequent, I don't know. To most people on forums I am just a name anyway, It is only on here where people actually know me (North section) and would they actually miss me? Only time will tell Rolling Eyes

If i died on a bike i would like to be posted about. Something along the lines of 'Shane is dead. Nuff Said' Smile

If i died and it wasn't bike related i would probably not care about others on a forum knowing.

Thumbs Up

I'm not sure if anyone would notice if I died. Although various people on here have my facebook and my mobile number, so I guess it would come up eventually.

That would be a rather strange facebook status though wouldn't it.

I was feeling a wee bit down there and reading this thread has cheered me right up... Crying or Very sad

If I died horribly and quickly I'd be to busy haunting certain bedrooms and changing rooms to worry about checking my online status. Wink

I think prolly Anita would let you guys know.

A forum I registered on whilst I was in NZ has made a sort of rule that if somebody hears about a bike accident/death, you can't post about it if its a member, or else that members can say whether they want their death details posted. I think that's quite a good idea, although obviously in NZ its a much smaller population, and chances are with the limited number of bike-related forums over there, its likely if the person was a biker, they would be known on a forum.

Sometimes, obviously it can be quite upsetting for forum members to hear "Ooooooh, there's been a bike-death on the road, hope its none of us!" only to discover later on after too many insensitive posts that in fact the person who died is somebody that someone knows and is quite upset about (the "Gerry from London HA" thread last summer is a perfect example - and I am sure there are others, not necessarily in this forum).

I had that happen to me once before when my mate Tigger died. Some girl rang me to say "Is it true that Tigger's dead - I just read it on Bikersweb!" and I had no idea that Tigger had died, spent hours frantically ringing round to find out where he was/what had happened/why the thread was posted, only to ultimately discover that it was true. Never a good feeling.

But anyway, back on topic: Anita or Andy will prolly let you know if I snuff it - you can come to my funeral if you want

i was on a cable car, somewhere in Peru, and the guy takng the tickets was from NZ!

I got "detained" once by a Kiwi copper in the UK!

And they can't pronounce the vowel "I" properly, and most of my family live in Upper Hutt and Ataki, and they are a bunch of weirdos. Laughing Bloody aunt, changed nationality in the 70;s, and I think I'm vageuly related to a Maori by marriage, and the shops are shut at the weekend, and bikers are under a curfew, and I once saw "once Were Warriors" and......

Yeah, there's only 3 million of us (the other 1 million of the population are Chinese Shocked and mostly all live in Auckland) ... so we have to make sure we take turns being out and about in the world, so when we go for world domination, you don't really notice, cos we've always been everywhere.

Being serious for just a moment, am I also right in thinking that Maoris %age wise, lost the most amount of men out of any race, in any war ever, in WW2?

Although (seriously) Laughing ...

its entirely possible, but its more likely that it was calculated on a 'per capita' sort of arrangement, as were would be a lot less Maori population to be counted, and if a reasonable percentage of them were in the war troops, then it would seem like a bigger chunk of them were killed.

If 1000 NZ troops went to war and 500 of them were Pakeha, and 500 of them Maori, then if they both suffered the same quantity of death-rates, the percentage would be more in terms of total Maori population than of Pakeha.

If that makes sense statistically (it does to me).

I do sometimes wonder how many people on here stop posting due to death from a bike accident, and no one knows about it.

I've met no more than 14 people off here, and 2 are now dead that I know of. Both due to bike accidents.

Its almost as if BCF is a bit of a death cult or something, where people goad each other into risky behaviour. But not quite.

I dislike how people say "Because im a biker, death can sneak up at any point".

Course it smegging can, it can if your riding a push bike, a skateboard, taking a ride on a bus, driving your car. Realy gets on my nerves.

Anyway, i have a few friends on here, some that speak to me more than others. I know at least one that is on here, would decide wether posting here on my behalf would be the best thing to do or not.

So i rely on that.
