|
|
Hey all.
Basically, I am 5 foot 10 and I was 13 stone 2lbs in April. However I have been exercising relatively hard and eaten very sensibly and I am now a mere 11 stone 3lbs.
I'm very happy with this and have pretty much met my target, don't really want to go lower than say 10st10lbs. So now I want to concentrate on making more body look much more aesthically pleasing. I put on quite a bit of weight around my belly (pretty much a beer belly) and for some odd reason a lot around my hips, got stretch marks as well .
Well now I have lost this weight, it is just a load of excess skin, not going anywhere fast at all. Is it a case of keep on with the exercise and hope it tightens back up? I understand being 20 I am fortunate in that my skin will still be supple enough. I haven't lost a dramatic amount of weight, but I suppose for my stature I have. My face has slimmed up without any excess skin under my chin, so just want to tighten up the torso.
One of my work-mates suggested a lot of sit-ups, is this the best course? Are there creams that are proven to work, much like Bio-oil or not?
Cheers in advance. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it?s worth. |

Hi jon,
Bio oil is supposed to be good for reducing the appearence of stretch marks but I'd be surprised if you've actually got excessive loose skin with the amount of weight you've lost, unless you've lost it very quickly (more than 3-4lbs a week consistantly). I've shed 7 stone over the last year and haven't got any, I've been hitting the gym 3-4 times a week and mostly just spinning with some resistance work using lightish weights.
Think how thin skin is and you'll probably find you've just got some residual fat left underneath, which everyone has. Very defined 6 packs are only really possible with almost no fat and dehydration. Stomach crunches will help define the muscles, do some with legs flat, and some ankles crossed raised in the air so you work lower abs as well. side bends with weights in each hand are good also.
Worth having a look at https://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm it just gives another perspective on it.

A similar thing - buy some vitamin E oil (should be pretty cheap from a health food shop type place) and mix it in with some E45, that'll help the skin. I'd probably recommend taking some zinc as well.
Oh and well done you! That's a shed load of weight! Was that all from the British Military Fitness stuff or have you been running on your own and eating less in between too? ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

I quit the BMF after 2 months as it seemed like a lot of money, just to pretty much go running.
So I started going running myself. Run about 3 or 4 times a week. It's so much harder back here though, so many more hills.
Yeah, I amazed myself at how much weight I lost, got into a nice pair of 32" jeans last week. Was 36/38".
Pretty much cut out snacks, increased fruit uptake, rarely drink alcohol and eating smaller portions. Nothing drastic. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. I did the same back last year, went from 13 stone 10 to 11 stone. however I had a bit of muscle on me and managed to keep a fairly muscular look. But a friend who's currently doing similar what I did, is starting to gain a 'skinny-fat' look because he only does cardio. So maybe start some weight training to help fill out your torso.
Oh and I went from 11 stone right back to (current) 13 stone 5 after taking weights up 4 time a week, no 'roids, only creatine. But I need to go on a cut right now. ____________________ 2005 Yamaha R6 |

Hi,
I used to have pretty bad stretch marks and red scars around my belly region ever since I gave birth to my three kids.I had tried Vitamin E oil and cocoa butter which a number of people had recommended but unfortunately it didn't seem to work too well. My Doctor had even suggested that I go for a Tummy Tuck. I then recently read an article about a lady who supposedly got rid of her stretch marks using a particular cream. I tried it and it worked really well. It took a number of weeks but my stretch marks soon faded away. You can read the lady's article at the link below.

Fuck the oils and pills and magic moves etc. Hardcore INTENSE cardio is what will do you wonders. Situps wont tighten the skin,it will tighten up the muscles underneath the skin so to speak. Put the effort in and you will get rewards. |
