Hi

Well, the YSR is now registered so it can be used on the roads.

https://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/TempPicture/YsrRegistered.JPG

So it would be rude for me not to take it for a spin. Short ~12 mile run round the block.

Vibrates a fair amount, but never had a bike that goes round the speedo so quickly (but then the speedo doesn't read that high). Also never had something so keen to go off the end of the speedo (again, not exactly quick).

https://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/TempPicture/YsrClocks.JPG

Got the speedo needle round to just past the turn warning light Dance! . So a bit over 80kmh / 50mph indicated.

All the best

Keith

I want to see the photo of you actually riding it! I just can't get an idea of the size of it otherwise... Mr. Green

The numbers represent the number of digits that are going to sleep.

Will get a pic of me riding it at some point. But for an idea of size they are 12" wheels.

All the best

Hi

Been out on it again. About another 45km. Getting used to it. And pushed it a bit quicker. Will have to put the GPS on it to see how far out the speedo is. Speedo needle has now managed to get 3/4 of the way round the dial.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Its small. It fits in a small space in the garage, just next to a Bandit engine and a ZZR600 engine.

All the best

There was a YSR for sale on eBay in excess of £700. I'd love to have one, it'd look good aside the monkey bike.

My little 110cc engine managed to get the GPS to read 45.9mph, feels quite fast when you're inches from the ground.

There was a pretty nice one up for £1800 recently, but that is probably too much.

This seems to do about 50 true top speed (ignoring spikes in the GPS readings). I am thinking about buying a better exhaust and larger 20mm carb kit.

All the best

Keith

Yep, thats the one.

Fitted the new needle valve today and the new reeds. And they still don't seal properly (so it was a pig to start the bike, and it had stuff all low down power).

I have just ordered a new reed block from Yamaha (for the grand total of £34).

All the best

Keith

Not going to swap a CR500 engine in for the performance required.

Hi

Took the YSR out earlier in the week and it misbehaved. Landed up getting home with a 6000rpm idle. New reed block arrived so decided to fit it and have a look.

Fitted the Boyson reeds to the new reed block. Checked the compression (150psi, so nothing wrong there). Checked for play in the end of the crank (none). However found the problem is that the choke mechanism has disappeared! Probably vibrated out. Not something you expect to find missing.

Ho hum, more fiddling required.

All the best

Keith

Said this before, it'd be cool to have a go at some tinkering.

Hi

It will carry luggage. Went shopping on it. Luckily the tank bag expands.

https://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/TempPicture/YsrLaden.jpg

Changed a fork seal yesterday on it. Doddle to do, although slightly worrying that the only thing holding the forks together is a circlip (no bolt at the bottom, nor provision for one).

All the best

Keith
