I seem to be seeing cagers driving about with both mirrors folded in a lot more often these days. In the modern ages of electrically folding mirrors all they need to do is flick a switch to return them to proper position too. Just today I've seen a Merc S Class (Pretty sure all models have electric folding mirrors), and a Freelander (A lot of them do too), driving around with both mirrors folded in.

Obviously, if they're folded in they're not using them, and probably don't use them if they're not folded out otherwise they'd have them in the proper position. I check my mirrors every 15-20 seconds, and every direction change.

Are they breaking the law by doing this ? Is there an offence for this, and if so are the Police enforcing it ? I'd say at the very least it's careless driving, if not dangerous driving. Imagine how pissed of you'd be if you were filtering, got knocked off and the driver says SMIDSY, you get up and notice both of their mirrors are folded in ? Should be SMIMTFBITUMM, sorry mate I'm too fvcking bone idol to use my mirrors.

Anyone taken any vigilante action against such fvcktards ?

As far as i know its not illegal, as long as you've got a rearview mirror on the windscreen - could be wrong though.

Well, as far as I know, that for an MOT the minimum requirement is either both exterior mirrors, or offside mirror and interior rear view mirror, but is there an offence commited if you are not using your mirrors ?

Driving without due care and attention probably

Most likely just get a beep from the police car and a glare from the occupants..

If they are old cars i flick them out at traffic lights. If they are new cars i just tap on the window and point at them... normally ride off with a wanker sign

Im not condoning stupid car drivers who dont use mirrors, but a couple of times now ive been sat in my car in traffic, only to have my wing mirror clipped by bikes... Luckily with no damage, but its annoying all the same.
Maybe thats why they pull their mirrors in..? Confused

Yeah, stuff like that will really want to make people fold their mirrors back out won't it, just so you've got an easier target. Laughing

Either that's a lot of people on here who're very narrow minded and incredibly selfish, or just lots of people who post bullshit in an effort to impress others. Either way it's crap. Rolling Eyes

Pretty much the same as the people i see driving around with pay-and-display tickets stuck on their window, slap bang in their field of view (if they actually ever looked out of the window).

Like iooi says, just treat it as a warning sign. I'm quite glad they've been so considerate as to give me a clear visual indication that they are inattentive, myopic twats.

dont loads of bikers not even have mirrors on their bikes?

...just a point, i think everyone should be using their mirrors probably every 10-15 seconds...cos usually you do something this often...wether it be brake, speed up, change direction etc

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

So this driver was so bad at driving she had no idea what the dimensions of her car were and hit a road sign and you thought it would be a good idea to ride alongside her? Laughing
