Hi, i've got a dt50, was going fine, then just started over revving. Now it doesn't start, i think it's drawing to much fuel and oil through now cause it keeps flooding, also spark plug is coming out black so i think theres to much oil so also wondering what the mixture should be, and how to sort the over revving problem Confused .

Cheers Rich

What do you mean 'Overrevving'?

The mixture is unlikely to be the problem, I'd leave it alone for now.

This happened while you were riding?

Did the bike accelerate when it revved up, or not?

Did it rev up even without using the throttle?

How high was it revving? Right up to the redline?

How long for?

Need more information, dude.

Sounds like clutch/drivetrain has gone and then it seized.

Spose it could be throttle cable has snapped, but that usually means it won't rev at all, unless someone been a messing with the return spring, or its jammed open.

It could be that if something's gone in the drivetrain then it could have jammed the engine up stopping it from starting, or possibly you revved the tits off it enough to seize the engine (though that shouldn't have happened, really.)

Is it electric or kick-start? Does it sound/feel any different when turning it over?

Yes revs up right up to redline with throttle, also does it in neutral. Don't think it accelerates, probably takes about 30seconds for it to rev right up, and then cut out.

Did you rev it ALL THE WAY up to the redline and hold it there for 30 seconds? Shocked

I think your transmission may have a problem, but if you revved it like buggary you may also have damaged the engine. Try pulling the clutch in and starting it then?

edit: First thing I'd do though is clean all the shit off the spark plug (or get a new one) and see if it runs. Then go from there. Possibly your clutch has gone, that's the simplest thing to fix I would think.

no the bike does that its self, not the bike only starts with clutch, and it just cuts out almost straight away weather you let it idel or you rev it.

So you start the engine and it revs to the red line on its own ????

If thats the case then you throttle is stuck open.

Perhaps if you start again and explain exactly what you were doing, what happend and what it now does when you do something ...... We may stand a chance of working it out Thumbs Up

It's sorted now, the little screw next to the idle screw needed to be screwed in a little more. Thanks for all the ideas chaps.
