I dunno, i didn't really find any of it funny. Yes it was stupid of him, but then again i didn't know what it was. The jokes everyone said were appalling!

It's a sidestand cut-out switch.

Not the worst question I've seen posted on a forum really...

It's the powerband tensioner. Needs a new spring if he can press it in that easily. If the powerband slips due to poor tension, it might tangle the compression waveform.

I didn't think there was anything remotely funny about the initial post or the replies, certainly not worthy of it being made a sticky, like one member requested.

I'm assuming it's a side stand switch kind of thing, but only from the replies. I have no idea if my bike has one and if so, what it looks like. Maybe the OP had never had one before and so had no clue what it was, or maybe he just wasn't mechanically minded, so I think the comments he got were uncalled for.

I know next to nothing about bikes, don't pretend to, and that's just fine by me. If I have a question, I'll ask, either on a forum or my friendly mechanic. Luckily, I'm surrounded by people who give me a straight answer, albeit after an initial Rolling Eyes or two.

Agreed, nowt particularly funny about it. Neutral

All the yanks pissing themsleves, high fiving and whooping and claiming it to be an 'epic' thread seemed a bit retarded to me.

None of my bikes have a side stand cut out, and the only one I've ever had to deal with (on a friends bike) I had to bypass as it gave up and killed the bike even when it was pushed in.
