 |
|
I need to remove the 'not for road use' from the end of my race can....
I have it good authority that I can get my bike through the MOT with it on, but the markings have GOT to come off.
Whats the easiest way of doing it?
or
Can I just cover up the markings with a sticker or something for the MOT?

If the tester isn't bothered by the loudness then I doubt he's going to look closely enough to see where it says "not for road use".
Just stick a bit of gaffa tape over it and clean it off afterwards if you really don't want it to say not for road use, but if they're checking the can then the main thing they'll be checking is how loud the thing is. |

| Quote: | 1. Use a grinder to remove the words "NOT FOR" which should leave you with the words "ROAD USE" remaining |
lol, thats not a bad idea,
| Quote: | 3. Put a cheapo 'E' mark sticker on the exhaust over the words, could be combined with grinding off the words for added piece of mind | id get one of these any way, no mater how you get the markings off.

will it polish out?
You must have near infinite quantities of time on your hands |

Agrees, polish it out with autosol and a rag, it's only etched onto the very surface of the metal. Some might say it is deliberately superficial.
Remember to polish the whole band and not just that bit or it'll look a tad suspicious.
Mind you, I've seen people just MOT them with a strip of PVC tape wrapped round it. Carbon cans don't get all that hot, especially not race ones. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
