I did it, but never stuck with,

Pretty good if streetfighting/defence is your thing rather than the sport side of say Judo,

Its supposedly based on being an extension to your bodies natural reaction to a situation and is no holds barred

Expect a good cardio workout at the beginning, and then you will usually pair up with one or two people and practice various exercises (braking headlocks, disarms, situational awareness, ground work etc)

I still remember some of the headlock brakes, my fitness was never up to the standard to really get much out of it though, i was always totally shagged by the end...

Toby R started it a while ago, he had a thread in random banter somewhere.

What specifically do you want to know? I've been doing it for about 8-9 weeks now.

If you’re in Portsmouth you could go to SYSTEMA:

https://www.systemauk.com/faq.htm

I started training in systema a few years ago and loved it but unfortunately it’s in Liphook and I’m in Southampton so it cost more in travel costs than it did in lessons. As for Krav Maga I’m curious about that as well since it seems to be along the same lines as close defence such as Systema but at least they have lessons in Southampton.

If you’re interested in Systema send me a PM and I’ll send you the class details. The chap who runs it is a great guy and a very good teacher. If it wasnt for the cost of getting there i would of never given it up.
