Just watching it I think he has some sort of system for where the colours go on the screen.

he keeps slotting the same colours into the same parts over and over.
So maybe there is a technique for simply spotting the next colour up and sticking it in the same old spot.

his hands go so quick sometimes you can just continually rotate a block until it slips in rather than being precise.

Bloody hell.

I have bad memories of Tetris when it first came out. I was out of work for a while and played it far, far too much. This combined with too many bongs meant I had several nights where all I did was dream Tetris - ALL NIGHT. It was fucking horrible, really.
