But foretunately I had the tools on hand (in this case a swiss army knife) and I got it back up and running within minutes!

And passed!

It broke.... and was fixed with a knife.

You'll have to give more details!

Nothing too exciting - the headlight stopped - bad electrical connection I guess. used the screwdriver blade to get into headlight - then the knife blade to trim the wire back and the crimped it shut with the flat of the blade - finishing it off with the very very blunt scissor bit!

If it had needed a new bulb I would have been screwed!!

Do I get a MacGyver award? (I'll settle for the pass certificate!)

Will be giving my bike a proper examination after work tonight!

Very cool, so were you halfway down the road with the examiner behind and did you stop to fix it? If that's the case, how did he take it?

I was doing my U turn and the examiner pointed out that my headlight had stopped working - unforetunately that means we have to terminate the test (he did look sorry about it)

I asked if I could have 5 minutes to try and fix it - he agreed.
I worked like a very panicked beaver - once it was fixed he was happy to continue - it took about 5 mins it felt like a lifetime!

Nice. And the 5 minutes you spent fixing it was 5 minutes less time for him to test you! Twisted Evil

I did my test and passed, when we got back to the test centre, the examiner goes to my instructor, "yeh the main bulb has gone, youll want to fix that" the bike being the training schools

then when i got back to the bike, it only had its sidelight... so i assume i did the whole test without dipped lights... but the examiner was nice enough not to take it into account Smile

Absolutely brilliant thread Thumbs Up .

I wonder how it would go down at my local DSA centre if I rocked up on test day with my own service team to follow us around? 'Just in case, you know', Laughing .

I felt bad for the guy who was doing his test when i did.

I came out happy as hell as id passed he got halfway through his test with 1 minor and the tax was out on the bike so he had to stop.

I wouldve been gutted.
