I love the look of the VT250 (or is it a VTR250?) and they're spot on 33bhp.

I can see where your coming from, the list is long but i get the feeling most of them are going to be impossible to find and parts might be a problem..
its for a mate, just done his cbt the other week and is looking at doing his test soonish, though he is under 21.. got about £2000 to spend (not including his insurance)

Which bikes behave fairly well while restricted? apparently some are absolute dogs @33bhp others you barely notice... something like a sports tourer/practical everyday bike, like the nc30 is a great bike, are ok restricted, but lets face it not the most comfortable bike in the world Sad (i'd still have one but not as my only transport)..

If you go and speak to your local bike shops/training schools one of them will have a list. The DSA have printed one. Maybe check their website as well.

That site's been sitting in my favorites for ages - it has a pretty comprehensive list.

I reckon you should get a pretty common bike and restrict it. The 250s are a dying breed due to the law - use to be a good starter bike back in the day (not that I remember, lol).

I would take Laura's advise - find a bike that handles ok whilst restricted then derestrict the bad boy after two year or when you do full +21 DAS.

Old CBR6's are very common, can't imagine parts would be that expensive - not that hondas ever break down! lol Smile
