It was a very general question Ste, just thinking of ideas for my next bike. Im not really a commuter yet more one of those weekend riders The poor GS is a bit frowned on by those with Gixxers and the like around Scarboro tho Maybe they were never new riders once or just had the cash to splash on a brand new sportsbike on completion of their DAS.
Im not looking for out and out speed, so no Busas or 1litre monsters. Im only 22 so i want something that'll look good and handle well on the road |

A sports 600. R6 or ZX6R would be my choice. They're not much slower in top speed than a litre bike (they'll still go over 160mph which is plenty for most roads ) |

CBR600 or CBR600 Sport, nice bike, Honda Build Quality, Reliable (Bullet proof in fact), Honda, 160mph if you want it and did I mention it's a Honda!
If you're looking for something with a larger engine how about a Triumph 955i? Great road bike and probably a bit easier going than most sports bikes of a similar capacity. I'm sure Marjay will be able to extol it's virtues!! |

Buy a Harley. No, buy an R6. No, even better - buy a 50'ped and tune the bollocks off it. Or...buy yourself a fecking brain so that you can make these decisions yourself.

What's the point of a forum if you can't answer questions? FFS some of you should look at yourselves and grow up a bit, not everyone has been here as long as you, have some fucking patience you miserable wankers ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

Well i had my zx6r as my second bike and i was about your age, 22. I spent nearly £5k on it and another £1100 on insurance. Id saved for fucking ages to buy it, and had to sell my first KMX (sad experience lol!) It was worth it, but i didn't and never have needed to use it as an everyday bike, or to get to work etc. Its only really been used for sunny weekends/evenings, visiting friends down south, and a few weekends away, as well as 2 trips to france. As a result i've done 8500mile in 3 yrs, not alot really! My point is that had i needed to use the bike as an everyday machine, or to get to work in all weathers, then theres no way i would have brought it. I personally think to spend £5k+ on a new bike and use it in winter and shitty weather because you have no alternative is a total brainless idea, and id have been gutted to see my brand new kwak deteriorate through winter use, not to mention the running costs of a sports bike for commuting etc. In fact id never buy a faired bike for commuting to work, the amount of grief it would cause when it gets dropped, and cracks all that plastic, would totally put me off. If your like me only wanted the bike because you like sports bikes, don't need the practicality or versatility of an everyday bike then fine! but if your using the bike for work, and all year round riding, and want to carry any luggage, then id rarther have had a CB500 with a top box and crash bars, or if i wanted something more desirable but still practical then an unfaired hornet/sv650 or similar would be about the best choice/compromise you could make! In my mind sports bikes are not every day machines, and if i wanted a workhorse, then id never even think about a sportsbike period! |
