Been Blown off today Sad
As I was going over a bridge on the a64 (near York) today, wind blew me from the outside lane to the inside lane, started to brake, but wind pushed me off into the gravel in the central reservation and I hit the barrier.

I got off pretty lightly as I just knacked my wrist and my knee, nothing broken, just bruised, absolutely paggers! Thank feck i was wearing full bike kit, gericke jacket and trousers, sidi boots agv lid etc. Saved me I reckon.

Bike is more than likely totaled, left it in bits as I was taken to hospital, so its at a salvage yard at the mo. I'm only TPFT so insurance is no help. Gutted

Anyone else had an equally crap day?

Dave

sorry to hear about it.

I decided best not go riding today, but I did walk into town and just as a test, I jumped, and all 15 1/2 stone of me got blown about 2 metres during a heavy gust, scared the shit out of me when I moved mid-air.

Was going to go for a ride tomorrow Thumbs Down

went outside 1ish (walking) and almost got blown over, had to stand still and brace against it...

divuk83 - Glad your ok, it could have been ALLOT worse though huh? you can buy a new bike but you can't buy a new spine.. as for the full leathers, its exactly why its worth wearing them all the time, i cringe every time i see somebody blast past me on a hot summer day wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
Falling off is like being thrown onto a belt sander, would you sit on a belt sander wearing shorts? thought not! Shocked

Maybe the mods will give you a certificate for being launched off your bike? anyways like i said, you can allways buy a new one..

Handy hints for anyone geting caught up in strong winds...

Sad Sorry to hear that mate. glad to hear your OKish though.

You may be able to claim for your helmet, leathers, boots etc on your house insurance. I done this when I had a spill last year and my house insurance paid out over a grand no bother.

That's really bad new, sorry to hear it.

I have had a few journey's up the A3 where I have been blown into the next lane before I knew anything about it, it can be pretty scarey.

Sorry to hear about it mate. The wind really IS bad today. I was driving in to work at 6.45PM and the wind was almost blowing me into the other lanes. By the way I drive a 5 series BMW so not exactly light (although shaped like a brick hehe). Hope you feel better soon.

Tough break mate! I hate that feeling just after you crash.

I looked outside at the wind and thought I'd have a go.

Here is what happened:

Drove down road Smile took corner at speed Very Happy Then spot a big fallen branch lying across the road Shocked unable to stop in time Sad luckily bouced over the thing and didn't mash the suspension up Wink

Still, what doesn't kill us....mentally scars us for life.

Hi

Ouch. Not nice. Hopefully the bike will not be too bad, although that lid has had it. I had to drive with a trailer to North Wales and back today. Amusing avoiding the fallen branches in places.

All the best

Keith

Sorry to hear about that mate Sad. I was going to go to town to book me theory, but the wind (which left my bike cover somewhere in next door's garden) and the rain (which soaked my formerly sparkly but now uncovered NSR) gave me second thoughts. Bloody Weather! Evil or Very Mad

Ouch, that's not good. Sorry to hear that.

I decided against going out this weekend as the wind here has been a nightmare. I drove to a garden centre (I'm old and I was getting a mothers day present, its allowed, honest!) and the wind was blowing up clouds of dust off the fields and I couldn't see a fookin thing!
Scariest part was coming back and I kept hearing a banging noise. Looked around the car and there were loads of (rather big) branches being blown out of the trees all around the car as I was driving past. It felt like I was in a movie.

Methinks staying indoors is a good idea this weekend.
