Just wondering what kind of freaks and geeks actually go on to this sort of thing, it can't be worse than being on here from sun up to sun down can it?

Had a little bash on it for research purposes for work. Don't really get it, its basically a glorified chat room crossed with the sims. I dont get the sims either... Theres money to be made on there though, think its more of an american thing though.

Absolutely full of little boys full of testosterone jerking off over female players.
Female players are generally old bikers from Birmingham being given expensive and revealing clothing by appreciative spotty boys.

Weird stuff, the university I work for has 'rented' an island and is actually doing serious research into it as a distance-learning platform. Personally, I don't see the point... Confused

To be fair, as has every single chat room since the dawn of time anyway. Regardless of avatars.

Any program that has /hot/ girls in plunging necklines for their front page is just asking for trouble. Concerning really.

I had a "Job" as a pole dancer in 2nd Life Mr. Green
I can remember riding home and thinking " That black floaty dress I want wont go with any of my shoes and I will need a bag and ear-rings to set it off properly".....Account closed.

Now I realise what you meant was that female characters in the game, arent female players at all.

The question Im now curious about was why did you enjoy being given expensive and revealing clothing by appreciative spotty boys ?

I dont even know what 1930Ariel looks like, and I'm having scary visions Laughing

I do know what he looks like, and as such I suspect my visions are even scarier than yours!

He looks like a short skinny, Roy Wood with round john lennon glases and from what i remember, at least one pieced ear.

I did not buy him an ear ring though.

They were virtual clothes. Being a girl is far more fun than being a boy on the internet. I never said I was a real girl and I certainly did not encourage any of them to perform acts of onanism.
After the initial novelty wore off I found it sad and personaly I felt used. I got grumpy and would tell other players to "F**k off I am on the blob".
I jacked the pole dance job and took up abusive begging.

With the added 'benefit' of spending real money to have virtual experiences in your virtual life, rather than just spending it to have real ones in your real one.

Had to research it for work and concluded it was a completely pointless waste of time.

Its shocking isnt it, people do get rather very rich on it thorugh such mediums as well, I recall a New Scientist article which was based on 2nd life, and it described numerous people giving up their day jobs to spend all day making money from 2nd life, and as such spent more of their "real" life engaged in 2nd life. (Im remembering that WOW southpark episode where they slept 1 hour a day and shit into pans to avoid valuable time away from the computer - the episodes called "Make love, not Warcraft" its god damn hilarious)

Lol more like violated?

Also I remember there are a number of hackers who go about ruining peoples trades etc, the one that remains in my memory is of some dude who befriended a guy who had built his own virtual casino that took ages to create and run and Ithink maybe it was a cash generator, and eventually this dude gained enough trust for the guy to hand over the ownership temporarily whilst he went on holiday. Well, the minute that happened, the guy was like "Sucker" and destroyed everything he'd created. This apparently prompted some call for this to be considered cyber-crime and to be made prosectuable under law.......imagine convincing a jury of a virtual crime made in a virtual world by people that technically dont exist.......

I had a look at that a while back now as a mate of mine loved to roleplay on there.

I ended up being a slave trader in Gor. Oh yes I am a dominatrix biatch wahoo! Most of the people I had to talk to were intensely annoying. Mostly just perverts though.

However being able to kill people with a bow and arrow whenever I felt like it ie. they pissed my off was great fun. Thumbs Up
