Alright guys

Need some advise.I have a DT 125R and the problem im having is it wont start after lying for a few hours (in morning/after work) I have to jump start to get it going and for some strange reason it always the second time before it starts for proper, first time it starts but then cuts out.

What do you think is the problem maybe a new battery /spark plug.

Any help or advise would be a great

I have the bike now about three week and it only started last week.At work its under cover ,and at home it under a rain cover.

Its bad enough having L plates ,never mind runing down hills to get the bike started etc

I dont mind spending some cash to get a quick fix ,if i had any idea what was wrong

i would check the plugs firstly, maybe try replacing them,if still continues you could probably have electrical issues
and it would be an idea to get it to a yam dealer for some more professional advise... Wink

take your bike to halfords and they'll test your battery for you for free!

They'll tell you if its buggered or just needs recharging!

Are you jump starting it or bump starting it? Is it electric start or kick start?

First thing it to replace the plug if you don't know the last time it had a new one and check for a spark.

If it's an electric start, does the starter motor make any grinding or just odd noises? Are you using the choke to start it? Too much or too little and it wont start easily. What are the revs like while riding and stopping at lights?

Firstly get the battery checked, if it's a dud then it wont be holding charge and not giving the coil enough juice. Secondly check the plugs (plug v gap, insulation, and colour), and replace if needed, they're only a couple of quid each. Next spray some WD-40 into the HT caps and generally around the connections and other electrical parts that could be susceptible to moisture/shorts.

After all this, if it still starts like a dog, take it to mechanic and get them to check the coil, cdi and the like.
