Hey everyone,

Just ordered a pair of these: https://www.motrax.co.uk/index.php?page_name=product&product_id=570

Anyone use them at all? Do they get good results (startled looks, out-of-skin-jumping reactions from terrified cagers/animals/old people etc)? Does it sound like there's a truck honking at ya from nowhere? Hope so... Twisted Evil

There ok, this is much better,

https://www.mklsportster.com/r1150rt/stebel.jpg

Stebel nautilus, it was brilliant for scaring the shit out of pedestrians. Truck? this sounds more like a train.

One thing about the hootaz it might be a choir fitting them to the YBR I could only fit 1 (descretly) to my S4.

Cool, I remember a guy I was training for my test with having something that looked like that. Scared the crap out of us the first time he used it, we all literally jumped a mile!

Not too bothered about the horns standing out, ordered the black ones which shouldn't be too conspicuous anyway. I'll let ya know how I get on with fitting both (I'll try anyway!).

Cheers!

139dB?! Bloody hell that's enough to make your ears bleed, seriously. Even 130dB of the Hootaz could. Actually if it's a pair of them, it'll be 136dB. Bloody loud...

I had a pair of HOOTAZ on the Senda, my dad has a pair on the Varadero, definitely a big improvement over the standard ones, don't make you sound like a truck though.

One on its own is loud enough, I put one on the Gamma to get it through the MOT.

[edit]

Oh, and the black ones aren't as glossy as they look in the photos, they're more of a dark grey.

I bought them for my scooter and couldn't even fit one on Sad

They are collecting dust now, maybe one day they'll get fitted to something.

Bitchtits for the win! *flap flap*

Anyway..... Got these puppies (the Hootaz - Motrax's, not mine) yesterday and fitted em to my YBR. They came with no instructions at all. I'll post some pics later. One below the other where the feeble stock horn is. Next I had to go to Halfords and get the parts to make up the necessary cabling for splitting off the single set of wiring for the horn into two.

Job done, it's bloody loud, my missus nearly had a heart attack when I auditioned them to her. I didn't bother with a relay etc, seems to be fine and I wouldn't think the extra current drain is significant enough to cause problems. Now I'm waiting for a chance to use them on an idiot road user (nothing on my commute this morning, but I shouldn't but shouldn't have to wait too long...).

https://img137.imageshack.us/img137/969/1000217za1.jpg

A bit on the ugly side but not too noticeable... had fun with them on my way out from work... 3 guys walking abreast along the exit road, so I pootle up behind, one sees me and moves out of the way, so i go for the gap but another (who's on his mobile) walks into it.... a quick blast of the horns makes him jump out of his skin halfway to the moon! Best bike horn you can get bar none! So good I have had one on my last two bikes and mine and the O/H car.

You'd have to wire them in parallel otherwise they'll only get half the current/volts (cannae mind which)

You can get cheap twin snail horns on ebay, I got a pair for less than a tenner posted for my van, a wee bit louder and a nice tone to them
For my bike I just get a cheapo low note horn as thats about all I can fit in

I have a pair of Motrax ones and have tried them singular and still don't seem that loud I was expecting 130dB in my little garage to hurt my ears

I've just tried rewiring them and playing with the polarity and they seem to be louder depending on which side the positive is despite there being no + and - signs.

Oh and they get half the voltage each in series lol

Parallel here, and they are bloody loud. Colleague at work asked me to give him a toot of the horn, but he didn't realise I had these fitted. Let's just say he was surprised and his ears rang for a while...

I wouldn't expect louder/quieter sound from reverse wiring, as these things work on the same principle of a loudspeaker so it's just out of phase which shouldn't make any difference, even with 2 units as they work at different frequencies anyway, so there would be no cancellation caused by having both horns out of phase with each other.

Got the Nautilus compact. It's absolutely brilliant for getting the attention of drivers who are not looking right at junctions.

It's like a train hooter.
