It's an unmarked junction so you would need to:
Slow down; and
Sound your horn to alert other drivers of your presence.

Ok, if you get anything like that on your real theory test firstly look to see how many answers they want, in this case two, then look at the two answers that would be the least dangerous, in this case 'prepare to slow down' is always a winner, how can it be dangerous to prepare to slow down? It can't, so that's one of them.
Of the other 4 'speed up to clear junction' is an obvious no.
'Keep left' why? What possible purpose would that serve? Non, so it's a no for that too.
'Stop as the car has the right of way' a little more tricky but obviously wrong as there are no junction markings so no one has right of way, so how can the car have it, right?
That only leaves 'sound your horn' and as the purpose of the horn is to 'make other road users aware of your presence' it can only serve to alert others on the junction that you're there too, how can that be a bad thing? It can't, so that's your second answer as it is the least likely to get you killed and the most likely to get you noticed.
You have absolutely buckets of time to do the highway code section of the theory test so take your time and work through any possible answers you're unsure of using common sense. I completed it in 10 minutes and that included checking them all again, like I said, buckets of time, use it, no worries . |

LOL
So who here actually does this?
And with the electric scooter question, I just didn't understand why I need to know how fast they can go, I've just always counted them as slow moving veichals(sp?) even when I just used my mountain bike |
Listen, it's of fuck all importance what you think you "need to know".
The test isn't for you to choose your favourite questions.
Mobility scooters have a TOP speed of 8mph and have to display AMBER flashing lights by law on carriageways.
You hoot your horn becuase it's an unmarked crossroads, with no priority given. You should ("in theory") also consider hooting your horn when unsure about the presence of traffic on the other side of a narrow bridge.
As was pointed out above, even if you don't know an answer for the theory test you can work it out given that safety is the premium. You don't win points on the thoery test for dangerous riding,.
Also - get the bleeding dvd, and stop wasting time on that website.

I think some of you are being unfair. Do you think vlunerable elders particularly like being stuck in traffic with all the cocksucking cagers?
Keep your fingers crossed folks that you don't end up too weak to walk, ey? Heaven forfend you might want to get from A-B.
These elderly folks ain't going hooning to the fucking coast, or touring the uk for the kicks, they are mostly trying to continue living a semblence of an active life, during their last wretched days, and if it bothers you that their obstruction adds a minute or two to your journey time, well piss off, and be thankful you ain't disabled enough you need one of these shitty stinky scooters. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.

Seeing as I'm the only one in this thread who's made a strongly opinionated comment on the subject, I'm going to assume that your rant was prompted because of me.
Did I even mention in the slightest that they should be denied their mobility? Did I say I cared that it adds to my journey time? Did I even say it adds to my journey time? No, to all three.
My point was that it's downright dangerous them being allowed to use the roads to travel on. And I'm thinking in their interests rather than mine. Bicycles aren't quick, but they're taller than most traffic. Scooters aren't quick, but again they're more visible and also noisy. Mobility scooters are smaller than all cars, so if you're unsighted by the car in front you have much less time to avoid them yourself.
They don't add anything to anyone's journey time, but I expect their "last wretched days" as you put it, will be cut even shorter if they use the road network. It's a dangerous law that they're allowed to and the only risk is to them, not motorists.
Get off your high horse and chill out. Your whole post was condescending and ignorant. ____________________ TARMAC - Automotive blog *UPDATED 26/3/09 - Abandoned fuel stations to go electric? ~ Buy my eBay stuff!
