...and how can i avoid it?

the missus has just done her CBT, we went out riding today and she wasnt doing badly at all! just needs confidence, and practice pulling away and stuff.

so tonight she went to the cinema with her ''girlies'' and took the bike.

then the phonecalls start...

''why wont she start? im giving it full throttle and kicking it over and it wont start!!''

Rolling Eyes

so thats one flooded engine. told her to leave it for a bit, then kick it hard once with no throttle... ''bbrrriingdingdingding''.

fucks sake... glad thats over.

or was it?

no.

10 minutes later...

''baby, she's broken down again! whats wrong?''

''i dont know, im not there, whats it doing?''

''i stalled, and now when i kick it, the kickstart gets jammed and the bike jumps forwards''.

''is the clutch in?''

''no''

''is it in neutral?''

''no''

''put it in neutral and try again''

brringdingdingdingdind.

fucks sake this is getting irritating... oh well, off to bed now (as its 00:30am at this point).

now, about 5 minutes ago, just got off the phone...

''its still broken down! whats wrong? its like theres no petrol''

''is there petrol?''

(we were out for about 4 hours riding today, and she put £4 of fuel in from completely dry).

''no''

''put it on reserve''

''how?''

Mad

if i get another call, im going to burn the thing.

Teething problems for sure... I left my bloody fuel tap off lots of times and wondered why it lost power, and countless other newbie mistakes. Just needs practice/experience. Thumbs Up

she's doing great now... just teething problems.

all i can say is maybe a bit more gear sense is needed, and to not be such a fag...

easily intimidated by drivers, and ends up pulling into the side of the road and letting them overtake stupidly.

when i ride with her, im trying to help by riding close to the middle white line to stop twats overtaking, so she gets used to riding in the middle of her lane.

and i got right fucked off at some guy in a skoda who beeped at her when she stalled at the lights... how the hell is that going to help?
so i let her go, then rode at 2mph for about 500 meters with him beeping and trying to get around me... cunt.
he didnt manage Laughing

anything else reccomended?

Hmmm I was struggling on my first ride with gears. Stalled loads.. I usually turn around and apologize Thumbs Up

I've gotten into this habit of sort of walking the bike whilst pulling away.. I don't know but it's working LOL

Revs and slipping the clutch is what you want to do, not walking with the bike.

I didn't do too bad when learning to ride my RX-S and only stalled twice and both times i was on a slight incline. Just have to get the revs above 5,000rpm and slip the clutch. It's easy once you get the hang of it.
