Thinking of buying a Fazer as a commuter and for a bit of fun at the weekends instead of my R6.

Model I am looking at is the FZS 600 model

Anbody know if they are any good. Looking for details on pillion comfort and tank range ideally

Tank range is 180-200 miles on commuting duty. Can drop to below 150 if you are having fun.

Pillion comfort iS OK.

Easy to ride and resonably quick but a lttle souless IMO.

Heres my 98 one Thumbs Up

I ride an 01 fazer, pillion is really comfy apparently (my daughter regularly falls asleep on back). I am getting anywhere between 60 & 68 mpg, about 200 miles on tank of fuel.

Just done a ride of 471 miles on mine and didn't get a numb bum at anytime Very Happy

It is an ideal commuter bike, handles well at any speed and you can still have fun on it at weekends.

How fast is the fazer really? Is it as fast as a hornet? Faster?
Can you keep up with a sport 600 if you're a good rider? I'm condsidering one as well

I've got the newer version of the Fazer and had some epic battles on my European trip with locals. In fact I think I only got overtaken once whilst filtering through Paris... Neutral

Very good bike but lacks the edge of an R6 etc... Very Happy

The thing is im kind of accepting that I simply can't afford an r6, cbr, gixxer etc... but a fazer I can get for like 2 grand.
How many miles max would you be confident buying this bike?

Providing its been serviced I would be happy to buy a fairly high mileage example. The engine is pretty robust. But £2K will get you a sub 20k bike if you go for an older one.

The problem is I can't stand those headlights.
I'd go for a 2002 or 2003 model. The last one with the side exhaust.

the headlight is the only downfall on the MK1 fazer, as for mileage, the engines will go for ever and are not that high in maintenance costs. Mine is just run in at 53,000 miles Laughing Laughing

Have you considered a TDM?

Something abit different what about a TDM? I commute everyday on mine and love it I can still have fun on it too, it is a 900 parrallel twin probably kicks out the same power as the fazer 80-90bhp, but has a dump more torque it is very tall and good for visablity yet it is very thin and lightweight (190kg). I'm so happy with mine, The handling is very suprising and I found it excellent I can get both pegs down and it doesn't feel unstable at all.

May have trouble with it if you are short mind. My has done 25k miles and looks brilliant and hasn't had any mechanical troubles what so ever.
