People that use certain bike gear as a fashion accessory.

I'm thinking knee sliders!

Now i'm not claiming i've even had my knee down, and don't have any real urge to, but i saw a pic of someone on here earlier with unmarked knee sliders, and i regularly see people walking in durham with them on.

I personally think they look ridiculous unless theyre scraped!

Does this bother anyone else or am i being petty?

To me it's very much "all the gear no idea", or too much money!

I would tend to agree. Un-scraped knee-sliders would be an embarrassment for me. They are kind of a proof that one knows how to take their bike to the limit, though obviously there are ways of getting ones knee down on a bike that don't involve going to that limit.

maybe some people dont KD, why would they take their sliders off because they offer some added protection against an accidental KD

I'm sure it's not rocket science to get your knee on the deck, although i'd probabaly end up doing it at lights and making an awful mess Mr. Green

This is the answer. They exist to protect the knee ins the event of a kneedown.

I don't wear racign leathers so I don't have anything invested in this debate either way.

Mind you, if I did have sliders on my leathers they'd be unmarked as I don't feel the urge to hang off of the side of my bike like a demented monkey...

<Gets popcorn and waits for the great KD debate to start again>

As far as un-scraped knee sliders on leathers, there no point not wearing them until you do get your knee down, because you've just worn a hole in your leathers, they may as well be on for when the time comes.

We you do get faster you start tying to preserve knee sliders, and trying to not get them down, they aren't the cheapest things to go through.

i did take them off for a while but recently thought i'd try to KD again, i have yet to try properly.

its another one of those things that doesn't really interest me, i'd like to do it but my cock is big enough to cope if i don't

Who cares? Some people want to wear them, others don't. Me, I wear no gear at all. It doesn't matter.

I've got unused sliders on my leathers. I've can't go roundabout surfing cos there arn't any near me and on the road even taking corners at high speed my knee doesn't touch down. I do try sometimes and one day it will happen.

How do you suppose people get used knee sliders for the first time if they don't wear any ?

Mine arn't scuffed, but they are there for whenever it happens or on a trackday, whats worse is people buying race rep 1 piece suits, seen a few people with toseland leathers + all the gear, thats funnier Laughing
